______________ wins Britain's Got Talent 2009
Source: STV

Street dance act Diversity is the winner of Britain's Got Talent 2009.

The dancers captivated the nation's attention at the audition stages, with their slick routine and impressive acrobatic skills to hip hop beats.

Diversity went on to win the judges' vote in the first semi-final, dancing to a medley of the
Mission Impossible theme, The Beach Boys Surfin' USA and Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal.

...

They beat off competition from similar dance act Flawless, comedy duo Stavros Flatley and show favourite Susan Boyle amongst others, to take over George Sampson's dancing crown. They will now perform in front of the Queen as part of the Royal Variety Performance at the London Palladium in December.

Winning act omitted from title to prevent spoilers. If this bends the rules too much, please let me know so I can rectify this post.

1. Good. They're an amazing act if you've ever watched them.
Of course, JabbaWockeeZ are still my favorites as far as dance crews go.

Which is why it makes sense that an acrobatic breakdancing act would win this.

yawn...

14. I oh agree
Being tired of the glorification of things that were marginally interesting 20 years ago becomes tedious. Just because such a thing has become part of "pop culture" doesn't exactly make it mandatory for me or onehandle to be impressed with a rehash. It becomes quite tiresome to put up with hacks dredging up the innovations of others from two decades ago (regardless of the present year) and pretending they're the new sensation. Sorry if we liked it better in the 80's. We'll try to conform to your standards next time.

13. Fashion always looks back twenty years plus or so --it's a rule.
Edited on Sat May-30-09 05:48 PM by MADem
It's why "That Seventies Show" took off about a decade ago.

It's why "the forties" were all the rage (Bette Midler, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Lady Sings the Blues, etc) in the early seventies, followed quickly by retrospective fifties stuff (Sha Na Na, Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley, e.g.)

And right before that timeframe, in the sixties, WW2 war movies, many in Living Color were the thing.

It's been "ever thus" for damn near ever. Only the very young, who haven't seen it firsthand the first time a "repeat" came around, or the very obtuse, who don't notice it when it happens, don't see it.

Here's an important bit of advice--if the fashion was popular when you were young, and you wore it, that means that you should SKIP it the second time it comes around. Let the young look like idiots when the fashion restrospectives come around. No need to repeat foolish and hideous mistakes in mature middle or older age, unless you're playing it for laughs.

7. I thought they were fantastic! Awesome choreography that was executed flawlessly.
Here is a link to a video that contains all 3 of their performances.

10. Susan will still go very far
Diversity can't cut an album with their talent, but Susan can, and she will. She's already got quite a few people looking at her for duets, a potential West End performance, and an album with Syco. She is the highest singer in the competition, and I'm sure that there is a lot for her to do from this point on in. She won't have to worry about being "unemployed" ever again. And I know that this is in all likelihood going to be fine for her--the asshole members of the media won't be bothering her as much, and she can work and live in her hometown without as much interference with her world. She did beat the "tigers" as well, and gained the heart of all three judges in the bargain. She won't be disappearing into the woodwork now, or ever again. Her mom would be proud of her at any rate.

15. They were more likely to show up and perform for the Queen without issue, IMO.
And they also represent the "Diversity" that is Great Britain today.

A perfect fit for the Royal Variety show. The people who made the pick were the voters in the UK.

18. Her Majesty would be lucky to have a place in Susan's audience.
I'm sure she would give a commanding performance. Her majesty should get her ticket while she can. I see a lot of "Sold Out" in Susan's future.

16. Susan "won" when she got worldwide attention for that song and the clips
that were played over and over.

outside of the UK most people who know of Boyle and have seen and liked her singing probably don't even know anything about this TV show.
