PA Pulls Out of "In-Sourced" Web Project

"The announcement by the Department of Labor and Industry came in the wake of a news conference Tuesday to promote a package of bills being introduced by Rep. Mike McGeehan, D-Philadelphia, and House Minority Whip Mike Veon, D-Beaver, that would ban use of foreign labor in state contracts."

This came immediately after the first article was published, where it was pointed out that the state was offshoring to cut costs at the expense of local firms:

"...He (DUer Charlie Crystle) said state government is contributing to the problem "by using companies like Deloitte Touche and Infotech and other companies" who use outsourced labor to work on state contracts. Ironically, Crystle said, one of the Web sites maintained with outsourced labor is CareerLink, which helps jobless Pennsylvanians find new jobs."

we've introduced legislation to ban the practice in PA. PA is the 6th largest state. We get NY and CA on board, and we've got a force to reckon with. Then we take it to DC...
