Senator praised staff last week, saying their positions were ‘in harmony’ with GOP

The chief Republican counsel for the Senate Judiciary Committee penned a blog post last month linking same sex marriage to pedophilia — and subsequently yanked it when it drew attention.

William Smith, who was installed as Judiciary chief counsel last week by Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL, above right), wrote a seething blog post last month responding to a speech advocating that the party embrace same sex marriage.

Smith was responding to a speech given by a McCain consultant and former Bush aide Steve Schmidt to the Log Cabin Republicans, a gay Republican lobbying group. In his post, Smith linked same sex marriage to child rape, bestiality and pedophilia.

“I wonder if next week Schmidt will take his close minded stump speech to a NAMBLA meeting,” Smith quipped on Apr. 20. “For those unfamiliar with NAMBLA, the acronym is for North American Man Boy Love Association.”

Pedophilia is about a child victim and an adult perpetrator. Two adult gay men (or women) chosing to

I remember hearing all sorts of "fucking queers and the things they do" speeches from my RW father without ever noticing his own son was gay. (Jesus..how gay did I have to be???)...all the while raping my older sister while she was in elementary school. He was a respected, well-to-do surgeon too... so he shoulda know better on many levels. Obviously I was fortunate he ignored me completely (my poor sister not so lucky) my whole life....the incestuous jerk.

I agree.. you look at many who scream about the "sin" of homosexuality... and most of them are so deep in their own closets that they will never get out.

I do give some of them a small bit of sympathy as well - most were born & raised in families who were just as intolerant as they are.. some abused as well - and they really have no clue how to think for themselves. But, as I said - it's a very SMALL bit.. because many others were raised in the same situation and have figured out how to do just fine.

I think it is possible that some people who have attitudes toward gays like this Schmidt idiot does read the original "Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex (But were Afraid to Ask)" back in the seventies.

Back in the early 80's when I started coming out, I had a (also gay) friend who had a copy of the book. We read the chapter on male homosexuality and laughed our asses off. I borrowed the book, and after awhile it wasn't so funny anymore.

The chapter on male homosexuality was one of the most hateful, homophobic, misinformed discusions on the subject I have ever read. And the book was by a "doctor" and presented as "fact". I can barely think about the garbage in that book without getting pissed off, but one part talked about a emergency room doctor talking about how he was always pulling out all kinds of things from homos' asses, as we all know that they will shove just about anything up there. He discussed how one had a flashlight stuck, and that he was "the most turned on faggot in town".

In the recent (excellent) Sigourney Weaver movie, "A Prayer for Bobby", her charactor mentions how she read that homosexuals recruit children and have sex in public bathrooms. My first thought is that she read that damn book.

In the seventies, the book was an enormous best seller. I've always thought that the origial edition of that book molded the feelings toward homosexuals in the minds of a lot of people of my generation and older.
