FEC dismisses complaint over Palin clothing
Source: Associated Press

WASHINGTON – The Federal Election Commission has dismissed a complaint over the $150,000-plus designer wardrobe the Republican Party bought to outfit vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, the good-government group that filed the complaint, argued that candidates aren't supposed to use donor money for personal expenses such as clothes. The FEC ruled Tuesday that the ban doesn't apply to party money, however.

The Alaska governor was Sen. John McCain's pick for vice president. The purchases from such high-end stores as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus drew criticism for Palin, the self-described hockey mom.

The Republican National Committee told the commission that party money rather than candidate campaign money was used for the purchases.

3. Can you spell "loophole the size of the Pacific Ocean?" Campaign financing laws are a joke to fool
American voters. Between our apathy and their duplicity, America is so screwn.

4. Sarah Palin’s $150,000 wardrobe malfunction ruled OK
Source: The Christian Science Monitor

The Federal Election Commission ruled yesterday that the Republican National Committee did no wrong in directing $150,000 in funds to gussy up Palin and brood during the 2008 campaign.

The Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) filed the complaint alleging campaign finance laws were broken as result of the expenditure. The RNC said all was above board stating they used party money not money from campaign donations.

The FEC said there was no evidence to the contrary and much like Orange Juice Jones said to his wayward girlfriend: You dismissed! (How often can you quote Orange Juice Jones? It’s a small window of opportunity).

So if you contributed to the failed, but wonderfully entertaining, campaign you didn’t pay for a new set gold plated overalls for Todd, your money went to the campaign. Not that Todd received said overalls — it’s just an example.

5. Palin was an incredible gift to the democratic party.
The dems could not have bought a better PR campaign for $150,000 than the RNC spending that kind of money, for clothes, during the worst economic crash in years, all the while claiming to be fiscally conservative.

That said, I do miss the Palin for President website. It went so well with my morning coffee. :7
