Man jailed for urinating on woman during flight
Source: USATODAY

HONOLULU (AP) — A 28-year-old man has been sentenced to three weeks in jail for urinating on a 66-year-old woman during a Continental Airlines flight last month from Los Angeles to Honolulu. Jerome Kenneth Kingzio, a resident of the U.S. Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, was sentenced after pleading guilty Tuesday to assault charges in federal court in Honolulu.

The victim was headed to Hawaii on March 21 for a scuba diving vacation and was watching an in-flight movie when Kingzio stood up and began urinating on her. He had been drinking on the flight.

U.S. Attorney Edward Kubo Jr. said the woman reported that not only was her entire vacation ruined, but she continues to suffer emotionally from the incident.

4. More:
Jerome Kenneth Kingzio, 28, received a remarkably light sentence for a truly disgusting crime of assault. On a Continental flight from Los Angeles to Honolulu, a 66-year-old woman was watching an in-flight movie when Kingzio stood up in the seat behind her and urinated on her. For this assault, he received just three weeks in jail.

Even when the women pushed Kingzio back, he continued to urinate.

35. Actually, something more-sensitive might have been available for kicking.
But I would imagine that the incident would have rather shocked the victim. She was likely not prepared to respond in any way.

12. For the record... I predict Ambien was involved...
Edited on Tue Apr-21-09 03:26 AM by targetpractice
Ambien is great sleep aid if the user crashes in their own bed after taking it... However, many people take it and do wild and crazy things if they are not in their own bed... And, it's unfortunately common for people to take it on red-eye flights.

Sleep-walking, sleep-driving, sleep-eating, sleep-emailing etc. are anecdotal side effects of Ambien.

I know people who have taken it on flights, and have completely blacked out for hours despite embarrassing themselves.

Personally, I had a bad Ambien experience one weekday night... I planned to go to bed and work the next day, but I made some phone calls, went dancing, destroyed a relationship with a best friend, lost my wallet, and chipped my front tooth somehow after taking a single Ambien.

The pharma industry will do everything to quash such a defense... If you remember, pharma spent quite a bit of money to quash the defense of Princess Dianna's driver's who claimed that Prozac altered his state of mind.

UPON EDIT: I am not defending the accused in this situation... However, if you've ever had a bad Ambien experience, you will understand why I'm chiming in..

13. isn't that the same reason Joe Scarborough claimed he said the 'F-word' on MSNBC? LOL

It's a great excuse, for cussing and pissing - they should put that on the label.

14. Oh, I remember that...
Edited on Tue Apr-21-09 03:13 AM by targetpractice
Perhaps, he was telling the truth. I recall thinking at the time that I bought that "excuse" based on my personal experience with Ambien.

Like I wrote... I believe (from first-hand experience) that Ambien can cause some bizarre and complicated behavioral side effects while the user seems to be completely lucid, alert, and functional. Google it.

I also remember being personally horrified to hear Colin Powell and Condi Rice claim in a pre-2004 interview how thankful they were for Ambien -- because otherwise they wouldn't be able to do their jobs. Very scary.

You may attribute such an explanation to "an LOL excuse", but it truly may be a side effect.

Ambien is a multi-billion dollar per year product... How willing to you think its manufacturer would be to putting "unexplained cussing & pissing" on the label?

16. I have a friend who was on a jury
The defendant was a nurse who worked nights. She got home at 6 AM and drank a 6 pack and a bottle of wine, then she took an Ambien.

She got in the car and drove from Ojai to Ventura at around 70 mph, and when she hit the freeway she was going more like 90. She blew a tire, got out of the car, looked at it, got back in, and kept going. She was finally cornered at the fairgrounds.

The jury believed she was blacked out, but due to the extreme amount of alcohol she had drank, they found her guilty.

Also, my grandma stayed with us last year and she was on Ambien. She would come on my room in the middle of the night asking how to get downstairs. We have a one story house. :o She seemed fairly lucid, but the stuff she was saying was just too odd, and we finally concluded she was sleepwalking.

In summary, people do wierd shit on Ambien.

To just up and start pissing on someone like that. That's fucking bizarre. I don't think it would ruin my entire vacation though or cause me emotional damage. Of course, I'd never tell the court that.

18. he was probably drunk & didn't know what he was doing.
thinking the seat was a urinal or something.

i'd have made him pay for my clothes. it's gross, but i wouldn't send someone to jail over it.

the outrage seems misplaced. a drunk. i wouldn't call it "assault" unless he was belligerant.

21. Bizarre. Too many questions.
It doesn't say much about the circumstances or how much the
man had to drink, or if he drank a lot of alchohol
why the attendant provided so much to him, or what the character
of the man was and if he had been in trouble before.

It just doesn't quite make sense. Too much missing info.
That's because he plead. Did he have a lawyer?

Is it possible the man had a diagnosed or undiagnosed
medical condition which, with the combination of alcohol and
altitude, produced a mental malfunction?

If so, he should not be in jail.
Any medical psychobabblers at hand for an opinion?
