AP: FBI Suspected McVeigh Link to Robbers

JOHN SOLOMON
Associated Press

WASHINGTON - The FBI believed Timothy McVeigh tried to recruit additional help in the days before the deadly 1995 Oklahoma City bombing and gathered evidence that white supremacist bank robbers may have become involved, according to government documents never introduced at McVeigh's trial.

The retired FBI chief of the Oklahoma City investigation, Dan Defenbaugh, said he was unaware of some evidence obtained by The Associated Press and that the investigation should be reopened to determine whether the robbery gang was linked to McVeigh.

The evidence never shared with Defenbaugh's investigators or defense lawyers includes documents showing the Aryan Republican Army bank robbers possessed explosive blasting caps similar to those McVeigh stole and a driver's license with the name of a central player who was robbed in the Oklahoma City plot.

"If the evidence is still there, then it should be checked out," said Defenbaugh, who reviewed the documents at the request of the AP. "If I were still in the bureau, the investigation would be reopened."

1. This would shock me as the GOP do not want to drag up Aryan terror groups.
I am just sure of that, even if I have no facts.

I think these guys have been watching too much tv..

Of course, if they had not all been so eager to execute MacVeigh, they might have been able to get more information from him over the years

6. The Order
White supremacists have been robbing banks all over the west, midwest and mountain states for the last twenty five years. The most famous of the Aryan resistance groups doing bank holdups was the Order, or the Silent Brotherhood, who also contracted the murder of Alan Berg. If they hadn't screwed up by leaving a pistol at a crime scene, the Order might well have been able to pose law enforcement a major problem.

Good, fact-based films on these activities include:

"Betrayed," Costa-Gavras's film about The Order
"Talk Radio," Oliver Stone's take on Berg (Bogosian is brilliant)
"Dead Bang," a truly good John Frankenheimer film about the hunt for supremacist cop-killers.

This tradition has been carried on less effectively by many splinter orgs. The National Alliance nearly pulled off a major bomb attack and bank robbery in 1998 in Orlando. The Aryan Nations of Pennsylania were quite successful in the 1990s in a string of robberies that yielded them some operating capital.

Interesting that the media so underplays what is clearly domestic terrorism. So far, not many have been killed, so the 'if it bleeds, it leads' aspect of these events may play a role. Nonetheless, the FBI is very concerned with this issue, and there may very well be a link between the Aryan Republican Army (active in Pennsylvania in the 1990s) and McVeigh.

Fuck McVeigh and fuck all those who had anything to do with him. This isn't surprising as they are all scum fucking scum all of them.

Did we hunt down this scum in our own country and beat them publicly? No we didn't but we should have as soon as we were LUCKY enough to catch that sack of shit that was so fucking stupid that not only did he murder people who had nothing at all to do with what his warped fucking mind chose to hate but his dumb ass was so fucking stupid that he didn't put license plates on his car.

I apologize but I fucking hate every fucking thing about McVeigh and the Nichols. McVeigh and I have a similar background and when I found out this fucking puke had basically the same job in the Army as I did I wanted to give him a 10 second head start and pick his miserable fucking existence apart from the turret of a Bradley fighting vehicle with the coax, the sabot, and the HE rounds and let him suffer.

Okay thanks I feel better now. Fuck McVeigh and fuck that crowd.

5. A bit testy this morning, aren't we?
I think there are a lot of unanswered questions about the whole Murrah bombing, and I don't think Ashcroft is particularly interested in getting answers to them. The whole thing seems somehow mired in intelligence/counterintelligence/Arabs/Aryans/Godknowswhat.
