Ex-Soviet group pledges NATO help on Afghanistan

MOSCOW (Reuters) - A grouping of former Soviet states that controls a key land route from Europe to Afghanistan has agreed to offer "every kind" of help to NATO forces there, its head said on Friday.

The seven members of the Moscow-based Collective Security Treaty Organization (ODKB) control a supply route that allows NATO to bypass Pakistan, where convoys are repeatedly attacked by Taliban militants.

"The united position of the ODKB is that we should give every kind of aid to the anti-terror coalition operating in Afghanistan," Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha told journalists at a briefing.

"The interests of NATO and the ODKB countries regarding Afghanistan conform unequivocally," he said.

3. I think the reality of the situation is finally hitting these nations
as the war as completely spilled into Pakistan. That has much larger implications.

4. Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan $igned deals to reroute $upplies
Parts of Pakistan continue to slide down a slippery slope back to the dark ages and these ex Soviet republics know fundies are spreading their faith and wanting to usurp power in a similar fashion thats undoing the civilized,sectarian and ever shrinking Pakistan regions.

...but the ex iron curtain nations are also in it for the $$$....
