8. Gates gave too much?

They didn't list Gates because he gave too much? That doesn't make sense.

In fact, Bill Gates' contributions are little more than public relations stunts at best. In many cases, he gives money to corrupt elements that recycle it back to Microsoft.

Notice that his "donations" focus heavily on education. Many go to the University of Washington, which is frighteningly corrupt and has absolutely sold out to Microsoft.

He also donates to several charter school efforts. That says a lot about his efforts to improve public schools

I see one donation to the Seattle Pacific University. That's the home of a key spokesman for Seattle's education mafia. I can't think of his name at the moment, but he's affiliated with the Green Party of Seattle (bums) and writes lots of stuff for the Seattle Times (the deranged tabloid that endorsed George W. Bush).

The Seattle Aquarium Society? I shouldn't have been surprised to learn that the Seattle School District's last corrupt superintendent was moonlight as a board member of this group. No wonder he didn't have enough time to get a clue about education.

The biggest stinker of the bunch is the Alliance for Education. Anyone who lives in Seattle and has a clue about politics should visit their website and check out their board members. They include some of the most frightening derelicts in Washington State.

You could be right - that the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation is nothing more than a publicity stunt. I have no idea what the motives are. You could well be right, but is so, we need a lot more publicity stunts.

Do you have any idea the good it is doing for inner city schools? Public health in sub-Saharan Africa? I have friends who have had their lives changed by Gates Millenium scholarships - so please don't belittle the impact.

So, he supports charter schools. He's also a lot more money to struggling public school districts. And he's also given tens and tens of millions to allow minority students to go to college. Maybe those students will want to work for Microsoft when they graduate. Maybe they won't. But either way, this is an unmitigated good.

I see one donation to the Seattle Pacific University. That's the home of a key spokesman for Seattle's education mafia.

11. The Reason

Gates didn't give any significant amounts of money away last year. In previous years he's given tens of billions to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation - the largest charitable gifts in history.

The Gates Foundation has continued to give huge grants, but they don't count as donations, and they haven't gotten any new money. Its only when somebody gives money to a charitable organization, like the Gates Foundation, that someone considers it a donation.

7. Wallyworld folks

A lot of their giving goes in different categories. Like the basketball arena at Arkansas University, and the new bb arena being built at Missouri. I think I read that was 20 or 25 million for that one with the stipulation that it not be named after anyone.

Two of the Missouri players are Wally grandchildren. We may not be the BEST team in the country, but must be close to the richest in "to be inherited dollars".
