US Attorney probing RNC chairman

US Attorney probing RNC chairman
John Byrne
Published: Saturday February 7, 2009

Paid sister for bogus services, ex-finance chairman says
A US Attorney's office "erroneously" sent a confidential court document to The Washington Post after the Post requested a different file, exposing that the newly-elected chairman of the Republican National Committee "arranged for his 2006 Senate campaign to pay a defunct company run by his sister for services that were never performed, his finance chairman from that campaign has told federal prosecutors."

Federal agents have contacted Steele's sister, the chairman's spokesman told the paper.

"Fabian offered the information last March as he was seeking leniency for himself during plea negotiations on unrelated fraud charges," the Post said. "It is unclear how extensively his claims have been pursued. Prosecutors gave him no credit for cooperation when he was sentenced in October."

OBVIOUSLY that didn't work out.

I wonder if they will elect a Latina woman with a scandal-in-waiting next-- just so they can say they really gave "inclusiveness" the old college try before handing the reins back to a rich, white man.

61. Some would flee...
But where would go they go? They hate Democrats. Simply because they believe all Democrats are minorities.

Some of the Republican "ladies who lunch" were just now recuperating from Sarah Palin. And now this. They'll probably blame it on a left-wing conspiracy or something.

It is nice to know minorities are welcome in the Republican Party. Particularly if they share the belief that corruption is a virtue.

69. You mean Don Sherwood the Pennsylvania Strangler?
From Wonkette:

Good-bye To the Pennsylvania Strangler! Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

We’ll miss you, Republican Congressman Don Sherwood.

54-46 is the current breakdown. Campaign visits by Cheney and Bush did not help, obviously.

He ran a great campaign. Stranglin’ Sherwood always claimed that he didn’t really strangle the bitch. Sure, he paid her half a million dollars to shut up until tomorrow, but that’s just politics!

Good-bye, Don. See you in Hell, you sick sack of trash. (And that means the Dems need just two seats?) Can we run the campaign poster once again, for old time’s sake? Okay, after the jump.

End of Wonkette article

And let's not forget about Shotgun Randy Kuhl from New York's 29th district, who was beat by awesome Eric Massa in 2008:

From Top Ten Conservative Idiots No. 260 http://journals.democraticunderground.com/top10/260

At the end of September, Vice President Dick Cheney will attend a fundraiser for Rep. Randy Kuhl (R-NY). So what? Well, funny story actually - it turns out that both Dick Cheney and Randy Kuhl have been involved in shotgun-related incidents.

As you all probably know, earlier this year Cheney shot 78-year-old Harry Whittington in the face after mistaking him for a quail (see Idiots 233). But what you probably didn't know is that, according to Roll Call, "widely reported divorce records showed that Kuhl, currently running for his second term, pulled not one but two shotguns on his wife during a 1994 dinner party at their home. Kuhl's ex-wife also described him as an abusive drunk who 'hustled women.'"

16. This shows that the GWB admin's Attorney General had the
information since last March - does it take a new Attorney General or a change of admin for the AG's office to investigate allegations made against republicans?

Stevens was their sacrificial lamb, when the truth about their efforts to destroy dems came to light, when it was just too obvious, they went after a repug - they just were so sloppy it is likely the conviction will be reversed.

In one allegation, Fabian says Steele's Senate campaign paid more than $37,000 to Brown Sugar Unlimited, a company run by Steele's sister, Monica Turner. Records show the expense being for "catering/web services," but Turner filed to dissolve her company 11 months before the payment was received.

these types of guys. When they had the DOJ you know they used to check on their own so they could remind them of all their foibles when it came time for a close vote, etc. Now all that research for that purpose is available to the court system as it should have been all along. But you know they were using it for party control/solidarity.

He's basically a very intelligent, well-spoken man. If he wasn't such a rabid rethuglican, he could be a tremendous inspiration to young people, particularly young black people.

His folks were Democrats. I wonder why he turned to the dark side of the Force.

54. Because it's highly renumerative
Steele has been after money for the whole of his career. It's what he's all about: he was created by Maryland Republicans as a black sock puppet. I lived in Maryland back when he began his political career, and was unimpressed by him then, and now. I have no doubt he is sincerely conservative, but I also think that he's a mediocrity.

The most important thing you should know about Michael Steele is that he's for sale. Always has been, always will be.
