Sarah Palin Launches Political Action Committee
Source: CBS News

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has launched a political action committee, SarahPAC.

PACs are groups – regulated by federal law -- that use donations to influence elections. The basic rules are that donors may contribute up to $5,000 per PAC per year and PACs may contribute up to $5,000 per candidate per election (with primaries and general elections counted separately. (Read more from the Center for Responsive Politics.)

The PAC's Web site is pretty sparse, offering some political boilerplate ("Our country, founded on conservative principles and the fight for freedom, must confront the challenges of the 21st century with integrity, innovation, and determination"), several shout-outs for energy independence, a form to sign up for e-mails and, pivotally, a place to donate.

As Salon's Alex Koppelman notes, most PACs started by politicians exist almost entirely for the purpose of aggrandizing their namesakes and this one will likely be no different. Palin is thought to be eyeing a presidential run in 2012.

2. Time to bring to National light the recent atrocities of Palin's neglect of her own State
constituents during this harsh winter of lack of heat & food for the AK natives.
Everytime Palin pops her aging head up from her hidey hole she needs to be slapped with a publicly humiliating dose of her self made reality.

She needs to go the way of Joe the Plunger.

14. She'll be out of office and inconsequential by 2012

She won't be re-elected as governor and Lisa Murkowski would beat her soundly if she runs for Lisa's seat in 2010.

Not only will the crisis in the villages sink her, but her 2009 budget will as well. The budget is based on oil at $74 a barrel and it's selling for less than half that. And even with that information, Palin is claiming there will be a budget surplus.

Anyone who contributes the PAC is throwing their money away. So let's encourage them to contribute!

3. Oh, please, please, please
become the standard bearer for the Republican party. A lot of comedians are out of work right now. The snark industry is in serious trouble. There is a remote possibility that Rebubs will start to make sense. Sarah, we need you!

How about calling it MoosePAC?

17. Ice-PAC.
Not to go with the Alaska temperatures so much as her own cold, cold, calculating, self-aggrandizing heart.

5. Uhm you don't know about Obama's PAC ? I applaud women politicians who have met the enemy
and are still standing.

Women are more than half the population and only 17% of the Senate and have never held elective office in the executive.

Can't say it was women who overwhelmingly bailed out the big banks---mostly male Dems, including Obama did that. I am on the hook for their actions, not hers.

7. The "logo" she uses of the superimposition of Alaska onto the lower 48
is probably her lame way of implying that it wouldn't be such a big step for her to become the prez.

LOL!
