Prospects Fade for Quick Ouster of Blagojevich
Source: Wall Street Journal

By DOUGLAS BELKIN, LAUREN ETTER and CAM SIMPSON

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- Chances that Illinois would swiftly oust its governor faded Wednesday.

The combative new lawyer for Gov. Rod Blagojevich arrived at the state capitol with a host of objections to the impeachment process just getting under way. Committee members themselves at times seemed unsure about how to proceed. And the state Supreme Court declined to hear a motion by state Attorney General Lisa Madigan to rule that the governor was unfit to serve.

<snip>

Unless Mr. Blagojevich resigns or is impeached, he retains the power to appoint the next person to the vacated U.S. Senate seat. Asked at a press conference after the hearing on Wednesday if Mr. Blagojevich intended to make the appointment, Mr. Genson said no.

" Harry Reid said that they're not going to accept anybody he picks," Mr. Genson said. "Why would he do that?".

He will not appoint anyone to fill the U.S. Senate seat.

Way to bury the lead WSJ.

2. blago is going to force a special election
a special election neither party and counties of illinois can afford. to bad he does`t step aside for the good of the state.

so we won`t have full representation in the senate and obama will have one less democratic vote. if blago pisses off more people in this state the republicans will take the seat...it`s that a lovely scenario.

4. I Hope Blago Toughs It Out
There really isn't a victim here, it's all just posturing. Frankly, I hope Governor Blagojevich toughs it out.

5. Meanwhile, my local news station (Boston) shows a fake picture of Obama and Blago every time
it airs a story about Blago. If pay close attention, you can tell it's two unrelated photos that were "fixed" to make it seem as though the two men were standing very close together. But, how closely does the average person look at photos in the background of its local news stories? And this is a blue town! But, corporate media is corporate media, no matter where it airs.

8. Point it out to your local blogs that it is fake and let them run with it.
Then maybe one of the other tv stations will make an issue out of it.

6. Lawyers can be shut up. Just have a committe vote..
Give him a day or so to make his case. And then, the impeachment committee says enough. After that, he's ruled out of order.. All they have to do , is listen to the tapes... Is that not sufficient evidence.
