Sununu's mission: 'Save the state' (R-NH)
Source: Concord Monitor

John Sununu sounds almost giddy to be headed back into the thick of New Hampshire politics. "I think I need a sanity test, but other than that, I'm okay!" Sununu joked yesterday.

Two days after announcing his run for state Republican Party Chairman, the 69-year-old former governor was en route to a meeting of the Cheshire County Republicans yesterday evening. He laid out his mission like this: to help his party "save the state from the Democrats," who "have increased spending unbelievably."

"I think the state of New Hampshire is in serious trouble," he said. "And I think one of the ways of resolving some of its problems is to revitalize the Republican Party and, frankly, try and help the Republican Party get back in control of the Legislature and governor's office."
...
Reviving the once-dominant Republican Party in New Hampshire is a tall order for anyone. The GOP has taken beatings here and nationally for the past two elections. Sununu's son, Sen. John Sununu, lost his re-election bid last month, while Democrats scored historic back-to-back majorities in the Legislature, along with majorities in the Executive Council, the governor's office and both of the state's seats in the U.S. House.

Last month, the senior Sununu burst back into New Hampshire's political scene with sharp criticism of Gov. John Lynch, calling the popular Democrat "the worst governor the state of New Hampshire has ever had." Sununu has followed that up with several opinion pieces in New Hampshire newspapers detailing his thoughts on the state's woes and the governor's failings.

So, the state needs to be "saved" from Democrats?

FWIW, most of NH is pretty darn happy with Gov. John Lynch, having dumped Sununu for a reason.

2. Oh yeah, "Air Sununu" is the person to save NH from Democrats.
A real fiscal conservative...except when it comes to perks for himself.

4. He'll increase spending BELIEVABLY to his friends.
Rather than the unbelievably egalitarian spending for the general welfare of our nation.

This guy keeps turning up like a bad penny.
