Log Cabin (Republicans) president announces resignation
Source: Washington Blade

Patrick Sammon, president of the national gay partisan group Log Cabin Republicans, has announced plans to leave the organization.

Sammon said in a statement released Thursday that he would step down at the end of January. Sammon, a former television news reporter, became president of Log Cabin in December 2006.

“After five years at this organization and more than two years heading Log Cabin, I am ready to tackle new challenges,” he said. “I’ll be doing documentary filmmaking, which is what I did before joining Log Cabin’s staff.”

... Sammon and Log Cabin National Board Chairman Peter Kingma said in the statement that Log Cabin is well positioned to influence the GOP’s future direction.

“Log Cabin has a huge opportunity to influence the Republican Party’s renewal in the months and years ahead,” Kingma said. “The GOP’s brand is severely damaged. Log Cabin will be an important part of the effort to revive out party with a unifying philosophy that brings people together around inclusive values instead of wedge-issue politics.”

18. Oh They Get It
They value personal wealth over personal freedom. Because as long as you have the wealth, you can create your own freedoms.

2. The Log Cabins are probably the most delusional group I know of
I mean, they honestly think they can influence the GOP agenda? After what happened in October?

29. It reminds me of two women me and mine met about 20 years ago ...
... it was on the sidewalk in front of a local burger place here in Portland. They were lesbians, one was blind. We were admiring thier service dog (a beautiful German shepherd, for what it's worth).

Like I said, one was blind, both were each other's partner, and the sighted member of the duo was also disabled in some way, and they were telling us why they were Republicans and why they were proud of it.

I don't remember what they said, because to this day I'm still agog at a pair of people who are the Republican evil trifecta, willingly members of a group that would ship them off to an exile island if they could, and the voices echoing in my head going why, why, why...

Don't tell me they want to change the Republicans from the inside. That's like the remaining working organs in a BSE all banding together to change the body from the inside by turning the brain 'round.

Can't be done.

Ultimate waste of time.

19. "Munchie," of Seth and Munchie fame.
And I know this because I actually watched that episode, "D'ohing in the Wind," this morning while working out!

Homer: "You can smash this drug lab, but first you'll have to smash open our heads like ripe melons!"
Munchie: "This man does not represent us!"

11. Gay, but don't like Democrat philosophy? Then registar as an Independent!
Anything but the GOP. Practically half their social agenda is discriminating against the homosexual community. This group makes about as much sense as Rockers against Drugs or Jews for Jesus. :wtf:

17. I thought it was Rachel who said that it would have won by a bigger margin but for the Obama turnout
I know I heard that on MSNBC Wednesday night, so it was either Rachel or Keith. Big Obama turnout: smaller margin of victory for Prop 8.

16. Why call themselves "The Log Cabin Repos instead of "The Gay Repos?"
Or something more direct. I doubt beating around the bush will return the Repos to a platform of civil libertarianism.

21. Why don't they just call themselves "The Male Republicans"?
God knows they have enough closet cases in that party.

Every homophobe I've ever known has been GOP. Methinks they protest too much.

24. I think I know what their plan is ...
They keep calling themselves Republicans while the party dies around them.

When the mainline Republican party dies off ... they'll be it.

They're lulling the mainline R's into complacency as we speak.
