Diplomatic breach widens between Colombia, Ecuador
Source: Reuters

The diplomatic breach between Colombia and Ecuador widened on Saturday when Colombia called on the neighboring country to crack down on rebels using its territory to hold kidnap victims and launch attacks.

Colombian President Alvaro Uribe, a Wall Street favorite and staunch White House ally, said he has information showing that Marxist Colombian guerrillas have camps on Ecuador's side of the border that are also being used to produce cocaine.

Ecuador broke diplomatic relations with Colombia in March after a Colombian raid carried out on Ecuador's side of the border killed Raul Reyes, a top commander of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC.

On Friday, Uribe canceled an October 14 trip he had planned to a regional diplomatic meeting in Ecuador after that country's president, Rafael Correa, said his government would "never forget the aggressions of Colombia."

1. Marxist guerrillas
I wish people would stop the incorrect use of the Marxist theme. It is really propaganda for the masses and totally incorrect. A Marxist is a person who advocates for workers rights and basically wants workers to get their rightful share of company profits, like a living wage. In it's extreme the workers own a part of the company. That was the promise, long broken by many US company's, when they promised to give wage or benefit increases later to workers, when profits returned. Mostly they then looted the company treasury, including worker pension plans and escaped to their mansions. I'm a proclaimed follower of this philosophy and proud of it. The thing is if you are not a worker, but a war making guerrilla in some jungle, and the only thing you are working at is coke production, it is hard for me to accept that they are marxists.

2. Colombia is just a US puppet state...

... dedicated to fighting a proxy war against the rising leftist states which surrounds it, funded by the Republican administration which backs this war under the guise of the "War on Drugs." Another pathetic waste of lives and resources brought to you by your old friends at the GOP.

3. "Colombian President Alvaro Uribe,
a Wall Street favorite and staunch White House ally"

That should lead anyone in the proper direction in their analysis of the current Colombian government.
