17. As I have said previously from the beginning the Dems should have told
the Repub leadership if they don't get a majority of their people to vote for it ALL dem's will vote no.

They are going to run against this now and say the economy is failing from the "Dem" plan.

18. Dow was at 230 when news broke
that they had enough votes. Down 100 pts from there at the moment

Better see a big jump here or a lot of congressmen are going to feel stupid, because I think the main thing that swayed them was the fear of the stock market going down further and eroding 401k's of their constituents (especially elderly who depend on them for retirement)

53. Now down to 10,500
Up about 50 from yesterday. Some investors worry about what effect the forced sale of banks is going to have on other bank stocks. And they worry about the commodities markets/hedge funds. And they worry about a lot of things that the $700 billion will have no effect on.

Fact is the $700 billion is to ensure that the have-mores KEEP more and Congress could care less if the rest of us lose more. Including some of the haves. They are fast becoming part of the have-nots. All that matters are the have-mores. The haves who lied, cheated, stole and probably murdered along the way for the more.

The market may go back up. It may go back down. Either way the $700 billion is going down the toilet on Wall Street.

Actually I'm starting to welcome this crap as it brings us just one step closer to the final collapse and the next American Revolution. It is better to get it started so it may be over that much sooner. We have been too patient, for far too long.

92. On the plus side--McCain, Obama, and Biden all voted for it
No harm, no foul as far as the presidential race goes--unless Palin can somehow knock McCain off the ticket and climb to the top.

Still, it must be hard for the Obama campaign to continue to push the difference between them and Bush when they're in bed with him as far as this very unpopular bill goes.

24. Thank you, rich elitist Democrats
Those of you who are well-to-do have just screwed over the rest of us for years, if not decades, if not the rest of our lives and those of our children. I hope you're happy.

And I don't want to hear any hollow protestations over how we "had" to pass this because things would have been "so much worse" if we did not. This is the Iraq war resolution all over again, and those Democrats who voted for this monstrosity will have this hanging around their necks when re-election time comes up and the nation is in no better (or even worse) shape than it is now.

I really wonder why I bother with this party.

46. send a complain to cnbc for right-wing propaganda
Please send a complain to CNBC about what just aired through the link below:

Charlie Gasparino on CNBC just went off on a rant blaming the housing crisis on the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) - this is a widely debunked racist right-wing talking point that was started by Ann Coulter of all people. While the others on the panel, who were actually financial experts, tried to argue against him he just shouted louder and louder and wouldn't let anyone speak and the piece ended. Please write to them through this link and complain about CNBC taking racist right-wing propaganda and pushing it as financial market analysis:

CNBC 'Power Lunch' folks, right after the vote, were getting ready to go to Nancy Pelosi who was getting ready to speak. Pelosi got a few sentences in and CNBC cut off the audio and said we are not going to go there. Then I heard in the background someone say, 'I guess we are worried she might hurt someone else feelings'.

Who will they blame, these Republicrats, when the economy collapses anyway? We will be. The taxpayers. The citizens. We should have offered more of our money to save the economy. How selfish of us.

I have about 20 people who have agreed never to spend a moment of time or a dime in or on San Francisco if Nancy Pelosi is returned to Congress. She kept impeachment off the table. And knocked the economy off the table in the process.

She is who should be blamed when the economy collapses anyway.

63. huh, funny, I don't feel bailed out.
funny how a bill that started off as only 3 pages long; fails, then bumped up to 106; fails, then 400+ from the senate loaded with pork; passes.

yeah, this will work out reeeeeeeeeeeal well.

but don't look at the market, while the voting was going on, it dropped almost 700 smackers, but it's recovered, hell right now, it's up a 3 1/2 whole points!!!

can you just feeeeeeeel the recovery???!!!

until we do something about it ourselves.

71. Glad to see the majority of DU would enjoy seeing our economy crash and burn
By the sounds of things you'd think that congress had just taken another wheelbarrow of cash over to Iraq. At least this money is going to be used domestically. We need to end the credit squeeze, and if this is what it takes then let's see what happens.

72. Way to put words in everyone's mouth. And if you think this will fix things...
:eyes:

Seen the TED spread lately? 3.86.

This won't fix anything but the personal net worth of a select few.

77. How do you know it WON'T fix things?
Edited on Fri Oct-03-08 03:26 PM by high density
My issue is with people who think they have the benefit of hindsight before we've even tried to do something.

This is not a universal fix to our problems by any means, and the crap they added onto it in the Senate should make anybody incensed. Still, I think doing nothing would've been worse.

74. Check the market at closing...
Wall Street may love it but investors don't. The market fell 157 points. And probably will fall lower on Monday. We need to end the credit squeeze? The only people who will get credit are the crooks who need the cash to cook the books to give the appearance that they are solvent. Except for the banks. The carnage there has begun. Citigroup intends to buy Wachovia. With YOUR money. Tight credit? You haven't seen tight credit yet. Wait a month. Then go apply for a car loan. If you can find a dealership that is still in business. PT Barnum was right. There's a sucker born every minute. Billie Holliday is singing in the background at the moment. "Thems that's got shall get..."

Do you have grandchildren? They will remember you fondly. Every year on April 15th. Nancy Pelosi's grandchildren will change their names. As they should.
