Errant e-mail costs GOP chief post (Corinne Weber suggested Obama was the AntiChrist )
Edited on Mon Sep-29-08 08:34 PM by maddezmom
Source: Poughkeepsie Journal

Dutchess County Republican Committee Chairwoman Corinne Weber has resigned over a chain e-mail she forwarded to party members, some of whom were offended by its content.

Weber forwarded an e-mail to more than two dozen Republicans on Friday night that makes a veiled reference to Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and suggests he is the Antichrist.

The note, a bit of Internet flotsam that has floated around for months, inaccurately summarizes passages from the Book of Revelation. In fact, it refers to Chapter 13 of the Book of Revelations (sic).

The e-mail contends the anti-Christ will be a man in his 40s who is of Muslim descent and has a massive Christ-like appeal, but will destroy everything when he is in power.

The e-mail asks the reader, Do we recognize this description?

33. Was it HItchens who said that Paul's vision in Revelations was a mushroom trip?
I think I remember seeing something like that. But you know, that doesn't neccessarily mean that it's wrong... just trippy.

41. John wrote the book of Revelation
It was the Apostle John who wrote the book of Revelation. Just for the sake of accuracy- not trying to nitpick.

4. I wish these people would read their Bibles.
Neither Revelations, nor The Book of Daniel (or the couple other books used for end times prophecy) mention that the anti-Christ will be Muslim, or a man in his forties. People have interpreted these books however they've wanted to, and others buy these interpretations as gospel.

6. WHAAAAT?!?!?!?!! I work for Dutchess County...
I wouldn't put it past some of the Republicans there. Though they say that this does not reflect their views, talk to them in private, and you will find otherwise.
The Dems have a slim majority in the Legislature, that they just got this past year. Look for that to widen, as people are migrating from Westchester and NYC to live in Dutchess County, and other areas in the scenic and historic Hudson Valley.

9. We watched a show about the Antichrist on the History Channel recently.
It was a HOOT. Had Ted Haggard and the co-author of that loopy Left Behind series on it. The History Channel needs to spin off a new channel for all the freaky shit like this and bigfoot and UFOs.

25. Here's another example of just how dumb they are:
For the US showing of the movie "Alexander" ( the Great)
Oliver Stone explained he had to refrain from using regular "BC" dates, since (according to data collected from test screenings) there was a significant number of viewers who did not know 356 BC was an earlier historical period than 323 BC.

21. They don't even know where their hermeneutic comes from....
Most of the deatils of what they cite is only marginally from Biblical sources; much of it comes from a 10th century monk named Adso who wrote a letter to Gerberga, Queen of the Franks, laying out what he understood about the "coming of the Antichrist."

She wrote the letter because the depredations of the Viking raids along the French coast appeared to have apocalyptic significance to those living along the coasts and major rivers of France.

26. some people have wondered if Corinne Weber is a pedophile
I'm not saying she's a pedophile. I've just heard that some people have said she's a pedophile. But just because some people say they heard that Corinne Weber is a pedophile doesn't mean she's a pedophile.

no matter that some people may have said that Corinne Weber is a pedophile.
