Threat made against Obama, McClanahan

KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- A Kirksville woman is behind bars accused of threatening a local state representative and one of the presidential candidates.

Police say Debra Cochran, 54, left a threatening voicemail at the Adair County Democratic Headquarters Tuesday night.

Those she mentioned by name were State Representative Rebecca McClanahan and Senator Barack Obama.

Local staffers discovered the voicemail Wednesday morning and contacted Kirksville police.

Investigators say Cochran shouted profanities in the message and demanded to speak with "Rebecca" or "Obama".

that doesn't take threats seriously. I like what Michelle Obama said when asked if she was worried Barack would be assassinated, and she said he could just as easily get killed crossing the street. I guess it all depends on what you want to focus on..hope or fear. Anything can happen, as is witnessed by the current state of this country.

and the extremist loonies on the right, I believe ANY Democratic candidate is in peril.

After all, we've already had a shooting at a 'liberal' church.. and dont forget in Arkansas.

Just hopefully, the body-guards, etc are good at their jobs and can protect the candidate.
