HOUSTON -- While authorities in Chambers County gear up to search for possible bodies, some residents are searching for what's left of their lives.

The storm surge pushed everything from boats to houses from the Bolivar Peninsula into Chambers County.

There was something else the huge surge pushed into the northern part of Galveston Bay and Trinity Bay-- survivors. That has Chambers County Sheriff Joe Larive wondering if those who didn't survive were washed up into his county.

Over the next few days, cadaver dogs will be searching through miles of debris the storm surge left behind on Oak Island, which according to the sheriff, is the hardest hit area of Chambers County.

4. They've been busy with survivors. Now that they are found/taken care of, more or less, time
to search for the dead. This is what happens in huge disasters. I'm glad they have cadaver dogs.

6. good explanation
I can't imagine doing this type of work, but I'm sure glad someone does it. People need to have closure as much as it's possible. :(

8. They are saying at least 50 so far
And "thousands" may be missing, though we don't really have a good figure for the missing yet. It's all Ike, all the time- but without any real information. Except, of course, that people are getting screwed again by FEMA. :(

9. Is that the number today for Texas or the whole country?
Yesterday it was 61 died in Ike related deaths, in eleven states.
