Federal-Mogul will cut 4,000 jobs

SOUTHFIELD, Michigan (AP) -- Auto supplier Federal-Mogul says it is cutting its work force by 4,000 jobs, or 8%, due to a tough automotive market.

The Southfield, Michigan-based company said Wednesday the cuts are part of a restructuring plan that will streamline business, consolidate or close locations, and lower general and administrative staffing.

The company declined to disclose the specific sites for the job cuts, pending further evaluation and talks with appropriate parties.
