New US Census Data: Same Reality

New US Census Data: Same Reality
Thursday 28 August 2008
»
by: Alex Carter, Campaign for America's Future

Newly released data by the United States Census Bureau continues to show how much President George W. Bush has ravaged the American economic landscape.

Since 2000, median income has decreased 1 percent. That decline is magnified by the higher costs for energy, food and other items during that period; what families could buy for a dollar in 2000 now costs $1.25.

For some racial and ethnic groups, the burden is even heavier. In 2007, the median income for white people was $54,920; the median income for African Americans was more than $21,000 less. Median income for Hispanics was more than $16,000 less. Since 2000, white median income has decreased $12; for African Americans it has decreased $1,804, for Hispanics it has decreased $1,256, and for Asians it has decreased $1,030. Those are huge disparities that continue to lay bare the racial and ethnic inequality of America. There is no way around it.

Poverty follows a similar pattern. Since 2000, the number of people in poverty has increased by 5.7 million; the number of families in poverty has increased by 1.2 million, and the number of children in poverty has increased by 1.7 million. In 2007; 37.3 million people are suffering in poverty.

3. The Republicans always wreck our economy when they get power.
We literally can't afford any more of this. It's a goddamned miracle our country hasn't been destroyed yet already by the right wing.

5. Planned boom and bust cycle.
It's happened over and over.

They love it and they clean up every time things go "bust" again.

Dems will work our asses off to recover and start things improving again. Give it a few years, and you can bet your life that as soon as we're flush and booming, the reTHUGs will engineer another "bust" that only a very, very few profit from.

That is, if the rate of habitable planetary destruction allows.

6. Food prices increase from $1 to $1.25
If this isn't the biggest crock of BS I have every read. The
information and formula has to have been changed ,which goes
into creating this BS. Like everything since Bush took office
Americans are censored from the real news and facts in today
world.
Not only has the prices almost doubled since 2001 , the size
and amount of ingredients they put in their product is least.
Homes , Gas , Heating Oil , food , transportation , property
tax and everything a person needs has doubled or tripled.
(Because of the inflated prices of homes the property tax is
out of site).

$1 to $1.25 is laughable. Same situation with fuel prices.

7. And though the Republicans are sure to bandy about news of "recent economic growth" next week,
we won't hear a peep about this.

8. Clinton had to rebuild Reagan - Bush Sr. economy
Clinton had to rebuild the failing economy and social programs
from the Reagan 8 years and the Bush Sr. 4 years of
destruction.

Just look at the BS of republicans...They always look in a
mirror , and blame the democrats for their crimes and
corruption.

The usual lies and BS from republican web site in July 28,

                                              2004
Politics: Bill Clinton was in rare form at the ^ Democratic
Convention Tuesday, comparing his economic record to George W.
Bush's. Not fair. The president's is better.

"Our way works better," the former president boasted
in his Monday night address, touting a '90s economy that
"produced 22 million good jobs, rising incomes and 100
times as many people moving out of poverty into the middle
class." He also lauded his record on the budget, touting
"three surpluses in a row."

How could Bush hope to match such accomplishments? Well,
remember: Bush is still in his first term. He inherited a
recession and slumping job market from Clinton.

Clinton, on the other hand, took over when both the economy
and jobs were growing and picking up pace. Inflation was still
in a decade long decline.

The real story.....

http://archives.cnn.com/2000/ALLPOLITICS/stories/09/27/clinton.surplus/

"Eight years ago, our future was at risk," Clinton
said Wednesday morning. "Economic growth was low,
unemployment was high, interest rates were high, the federal
debt had quadrupled in the previous 12 years

September 27, 2000

President Clinton announced Wednesday that the federal budget
surplus for fiscal year 2000 amounted to at least $230
billion, making it the largest in U.S. history and topping
last year's record surplus of $122.7 billion.
