Springsteen's camp denies convention performance on Thursday
by Star-Ledger Continuous News Desk
Monday August 25, 2008, 12:34 PM

Although reps from the Springsteen camp have denied to The Star-Ledger in an e-mail that he would perform on Thursday, The Rocky Mountain News is reporting that both the Boss and and Jon Bon Jovi will appear at the 2008 Denver Democratic National Convention.

The paper claims that multiple sources have confirmed that Jon Bon Jovi will perform two acoustic songs before Presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama gives his acceptance speech at Invesco Field on Thursday evening.

Afterwards, Bruce Springsteen is said to close the night, with presumably solo acoustic material. E Street Band guitarist Nils Lofgren told the paper last week that the band wouldn't be with Springsteen in Denver.

10. LOL
He actually seems a nice guy.

But yeah, not even in the same universe as Bruce, musically.

6. I wonder if the paper got it wrong
Look at the Lofgren comment - E Street Band guitarist Nils Lofgren told the paper last week that the band wouldn't be with Springsteen in Denver. The statement doesn't say that Bruce won't play - but that the band won't be with him. (Here's the other sentence that suggests Bruce will play - "Afterwards, Bruce Springsteen is said to close the night, with presumably solo acoustic material."

In 2004, I think it was just Bruce who appeared with Kerry in Madison and a few other places.

11. It was, and that's a good point.
The band can't not play with him if he's not playing, can they?

7. The band is off this week before the Harley thing on 8-30
So it could happen -- boy would I love to see the Boss up there doing "Born in the USA" acoustic on a 12-string guitar? I saw him do that live in concert once and it sends shivers up your spine.

I've said it before: 'Bama, Biden and the Boss is a threesome I can get behind! :loveya:
