Bush wants money for war, but less for nature

<snip>
American President George Bush sent Congress a $2.4-trillion election-year budget on Monday, featuring big increases for defence and homeland security but also a record $521-billion deficit.

To battle the soaring deficits, Bush proposed squeezing scores of government programmes and sought outright spending cuts in seven of 15 cabinet-level agencies. The agriculture department and the Environmental Protection Agency were targeted for the biggest reductions.

This was all so incredibly predictable.

1. Yubba dubba do!
Just when we were worried that nature might upstage war, Bush to the rescue.

Honestly, I don't know how anyone expects us to get our annihilation done if we just go around protecting the air or preserving wildlife.

These are grave times. We've got to kill Iraqi women and children in droves, see. And when they're dead, we have to teach them democracy.

We need to take their oil, which is ours, although we'll let them administrate it, for us, until such time as they are ready for their independence, which will either be later this year or in 2087.

I don't need to remind you: everything changed on 9/11. And then, just as suddenly, everything changed again when we saw Janet Jackson's boob. And now, like Tom Brokaw's Greatest Generation, we're greatest, too, really greatest. Perhaps even greatester!
