GOP chairman calls for a statewide voter fraud investigation
Source: The Daily Press (Newport News, VA)

Virginia Republican Party Chairman Jeff Frederick said Monday that incidents in Hampton and Richmond led the party to fear "coordinated and widespread" statewide voter registration fraud.

Frederick called on Gov. Timothy M. Kaine and Attorney General Bob McDonnell to launch a statewide investigation, citing last week's arrest of three canvassers in Hampton as evidence that people who were not eligible to vote were being signed up by a national nonprofit organization, the Community Voters Project.

Spokesmen for Kaine, a Democrat, and McDonnell, a Republican, said the matter was appropriately in the hands of the Hampton's commonwealth's attorney.

Frederick said there had been 18 "incidents" of voter fraud in Richmond, although he provided specifics about just one case, in which a Richmond resident said she received a call from the city registrar asking if she had submitted a new voter registration card with a new address.

projection, projection, projection...potential of a high black turnout has them pissing their pants...i also like how he called the registration group "a front for leftist causes" -- if only!

but of course he will say everything is on the level, and he has no political axe to grind here...

1. Let he or she who is without sin cast the first stone
I guess the rethugs are so familiar with all sorts of voter and election chicanery that they feel themselves qualified as experts to seek it out.

3. That's the difference between (R)s and (D)s....
They're "concerned" about voter fraud, we're guarding against election fraud - which is perpetrated, in large part, by Republicans using the charge of voter fraud to disenfranchise large groups of (D) voters.

See how that works?

4. ""coordinated and widespread" statewide voter registration fraud."
I think that this is going to be said by Repiglicons regarding every Battleground state with a Democratic Governor this year...they get incoherent when what was once Red turns BLUE - like the SENATE and CONGRESS!!!

It's they only way they can even ATTEMPT to win.

an intensive, multi-state non-partisan campaign to register hundreds of thousands of minority voters in communities across the nation. The Community Voters Project is working with the Fund for Public Interest Research to run this campaign.

7. "He provided specifics about just one case"
Well, one case! That certainly sounds coordinated and widespread to me. Virginia Republicans have to be wetting their silk undies contemplating the tidal wave poised to swamp them come November.

8. Notice that they never show any proof
of widespread fraud, they just claim it's there.

Secretary of States office not giving our voter registrations forms (+)
by: georgianative

( - promoted by flackattack)

My friend and I went to the Secretary of State office in the Capitol to request voter registration forms. After some hagling, the young man gave me 1 packet of 50. He sent us over to the Sloppy Floyd Building, 11th floor to elections office to get a box (200) forms.

I sat in the car and my girlfriend went to get them, she is an African American. She was met with resistance by them requesting what was her party affiliation. Since when does registering people to vote and the SOS office has become a party affiliation office.

When she finally said Obama campaign, she was told that the Democatric Party of Georgia has already been given 10,000 and thats it. Then 4 young peole came in and when asked what party affilication they said private citizen. Guess they knew how this game is being played. They all 4 reced a packet of 50.

We really need to check into this

Is Karen Handel Against The Freedom of The Press? (+)
by: Publius
Mon Jul 28, 2008 at 17:09:01 PM EDT

It would seem that SoS Handel in a letter to her supporters, has seen fit to rail against the AJC on current issues involving PSC Residency Status and the photo ID issue. She even goes so far as to quote Reagan.
She levels a pretty strong accusation saying that the AJC is "trying to influence the decisions of judges". So as I see it, now, Ms. Handel wants to walk all over the 1st amendment and truncate the rights of a free press? That seems to be the more scandalous issue here.

Here is the full text of the email:

Friends,

To paraphrase President Ronald Reagan, "There they go again!"

In less than two weeks time, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution has published two editorials, a column and a letter to the editor criticizing our state's photo ID requirement for in-person voting, and my disqualification of Democratic Public Service Commission candidate Jim Powell because he does not meet the definitions of residency as defined by Georgia law.

As you could probably guess, each was filled with numerous inaccuracies, misreading of Georgia law and, of course, the AJC's special brand of bias against protecting our elections and holding individuals accountable for their actions.

Below you will find my response to the AJC's editorial today regarding the Powell disqualification. As my friend and supporter, I want you to know that I take very seriously my sworn duty to uphold the Georgia Constitution and our laws.

I also take seriously attempts by the biggest newspaper in our state to manipulate the public's understanding of elections procedures, and to cast a long shadow of doubt on election outcomes now and in November. I further believe the AJC is also trying to influence the decisions of the judges who are set to hear these very important cases.

Regardless of what the AJC says about me, I am going to continue to stand up for our Constitution, our laws and the integrity of our elections.

Thank you again for your continued support and friendship.

Karen

13. Where ever there is a GOP voter fraud project, there will be election fraud.
It is already tied, bet on it. We need to start compiling a list for November.

14. Oh boy here we go. Wonder how many valid voters will be purged. It's not voter fraud we have to
worry about. It's election fraud masked as "protection from voter fraud"
