1. Isn't this only the second soldier reported
to have died later of injuries? I seem to only remember one other soldier officially listed as dying of injuries.

10. And logic dictates that there are far more deaths from wounds...
...than the NeoCons are alowing us to know.

11. I think the true total is much higher, too.
If only there were some way to confirm the actual total deaths, counting those who later died of their injuries.

Maybe an ad campaign, asking those who have had loved ones die, or doctors or nurses or morgue attendents to contact an organization, would help us find out the truth.

2. Look into their faces . . .
some no more than children--still with baby faces, others like Captain Kimberly Hampton who died on January 2, once radiant, now her life snuffed out. Heart breaking, heart breaking . . .

523 just in the month of January, 2004.

3. Uh, no
You say

"523 just in the month of January, 2004."

There were 46 killed in the month of January, 2004 (that's counting the 2 missing soldiers that the DOD hasn't declared yet - they only declared 1 of the missing).

523 is for the whole war, total.

6. I think there's at least one unannounced fatality of yet
On Lunaville, there was an article posted yesterday.

http://www.dodgeglobe.com/stories/013004/sta_0130040041.shtml

It talks about the three soldiers that were initially killed in that IED attack on the 27th, and also says this:

Vanover said a fourth soldier was killed in the same attack and a fifth died in an unrelated incident. She said their names won't be released until families have been notified.

That fourth soldier is this announcement right here, but what about the fifth in an "unrelated incident"? Since Tuesday there have only been three reported attacks with fatalities, and all of those initially had three fatalities reported. Two on the 27th and one today.

Chances of the two missing soldiers being found alive are very small. I fear that this month will see two more added to the count of the dead, once they are finally found. Which makes it the month with the second-highest casualty count in the post-war phase, after November.

Bless all of the men and women unfortunate enough to be over there, and bless their families. I hope that they all come home safe.

But don't worry, things are getting better. Because that's what our fearless leader says. Right?

7. And I think this is it
http://www.defenselink.mil/releases/2004/nr20040131-0286.html

He was assigned to Fort Riley, and passed away on Jan. 29, the date of that release.

Another future snuffed out... and for what? Bush sure isn't telling. Probably because nobody will be happy with the answer.

8. This is so sad. Every day our troops are dying in that
"shooting gallery" they call Iraq. And these thugs won't even honor dead soldiers...only ones that survive this mess. Disgusting.
