Boehner Says Economy Surprisingly Strong, Rejects Stimulus Plan
Source: Bloomberg

July 18 (Bloomberg) -- House Minority Leader John Boehner said the U.S. economy is surprisingly strong and dismissed calls by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for a second stimulus package of tax rebate checks.

~snip~

``That just happens to be on the eve of an election,'' Boehner said in an interview to be aired this weekend on Bloomberg Television's ``Political Capital with Al Hunt.'' ``It looks highly political to me.''

Boehner, an Ohio Republican, said it is too soon for a new economic package because ``the checks are still going out'' from the first plan and ``we're still seeing the effects of it.'' Congress approved a bipartisan $168 billion plan earlier this year that included rebate checks of as much as $600 per individual.

``While the economy is slow, we're still seeing growth,'' Boehner said. ``And frankly, I've got to tell you, I'm shocked. Given the high oil prices, gas prices, food prices and the high cost of health care, I'm surprised that the economy is growing. It really goes to show you how resilient our economy is.''

5. What a fuckhead.
FDR: Eleanor, you got a pen? I'm putting him down on my list of economic royalists.
ER: Don't forget that shit-for-brains president who's blaspheming the White House by his mere presence.
FDR: Did you say 'shit'?
ER: No, I didn't.
FDR: Yes, you did.
ER: No, really, I didn't.
FDR: You're blushing, you DID!
ER: Move over and let me drive.

Wrong about the economy.

Right about not doing another stimulus check.

And Pelosi is demonstrating her complete qualification at being an inept House Speaker.

9. Resilient economy? It's "resilient" because the government is pouring billions of dollars

into the market and is putting little band aids on these hemorrhages of greedy companies that took too much risk. Everybody else is left to fend for themselves and real wages decrease because of our rampant inflation. I welcome Boner to get a job in selling business equipment to see how much "growth" is going on out there.

I agree that we do not need another round of "stimulus" checks. Put out a job bill or something if you want to give people money.
