Pro-Qadhafi Website Blocked in Libya
Source: Mathaba News Network

The Mathaba news site Mathaba.Net has been blocked inside Libya, hours after articles critical of the Libyan leader's son Sayf al-Islam al-Qaddafi were published.

This is the first time a non-opposition group web site has been blocked inside Libya, and indicates the weak position of Seif Qaddafi who has been boosting his image abroad and at home as a future leader of Libya.

...

The blocking of Mathaba inside Libya may backfire upon Sayf al-Islam - the eldest son of the Libyan leader - who is taking over power within the country and turning his back on socialism and the Green Book ideology of his father. The online Green Book is also blocked, indicating a now open opposition and hostility to the ideology by Sayf Qaddafi.

Sayf al-Islam has repeatedly called for a free and independent media within Libya, as well as for advancement in human rights. The closure of Mathaba in Libya or the hi-jacking of its pages within the country reveal these calls to be hypocritical and hollow.

...

The blocking of a pro-revolutionary web site in Libya will also place a test upon western based human rights, press freedom and anti-censorship organisations to prove their neutrality, by reporting on this issue widely and in calling for its reversal.

1. Gaddafi son linked to blasts in Iraq
A SON of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi is behind a group of foreign and Iraqi fighters responsible for explosions in northern Iraq, says a security chief for Sunni tribesmen who rose up against al-Qa'ida.

At least 38 people were killed and 225 wounded last Wednesday when a huge blast destroyed about 50 buildings in a Mosul slum. The next day, a suicide bomber killed the provincial police chief and two other officers as they surveyed the blast site.

Colonel Jubair Rashid Naief, a police official in Anbar province, said the attacks were carried out by the Seifaddin Regiment, made up of about 150 foreign and Iraqi fighters who slipped into the country several months ago from Syria. He said the regiment, which is working with al-Qa'ida in Iraq, was supported by Seif al-Islam Gaddafi, 36, eldest son of the Libyan leader.

"I am sure of what I am talking about, and it is documented," Colonel Naief said, adding he was "100per cent sure" of the younger Gaddafi's role in the terror group.

A man who answered the phone at Mr Gaddafi's office in Tripoli said he was unavailable for comment.

you do realize that it's spelled the same way in Arabic Every.Single.Time?

the problem is the west lacks an adequate, popular transliteration scheme for most non-western languages.

Arabic: ‎ معمر القذافي

Nelson Mandela negotiated with Gaddafi the hand-over of two accused Libyans for the Pan Am Flight 103 bombing trial

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaddafi
censorship of the media about his sons foriegn relations is ok by many who read their news in Arabic.
btw,
Khadaffy himself said he DOES change his name spelling as he believes in that sort of hocus pocus as well as astrology.

Personal life and family;)

Gaddafi has eight children, seven of them sons. His eldest son, Muhammad Gaddafi, was born to a wife now in disfavour, but runs the Libyan Olympic Committee and owns all the telecommunication companies in Libya. The next eldest, Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, was born in 1972 and is a painter. ......

When a Libyan student asked Gaddafi this month why he did not throw the Americans out of Libya, the colonel replied, 'Nothing would please me more, but who else would pump the oil that we need? God damn America.' "
