Israeli fighter jets confront Tony Blair's plane
Edited on Thu May-22-08 06:33 PM by edwardlindy
Source: Telegraph - UK

Israeli fighter aircraft were scrambled to intercept an executive jet carrying Tony Blair after it failed to identify itself as a friendly aircraft.

It was only after the two warplanes had taken up an attack position to the rear of Mr Blair's jet that his aircrew used the radio to explain who they were and who they had on board.

Mr Blair, who has served for eleven months as international envoy for Palestinian development, was en route to Israel from a World Economic Forum meeting at Sharm el Sheikh in neighbouring Egypt early on Wednesday.

edit : BBC News link here :

Aircrew used the radio to explain who they were after the two warplanes adopted an attack position, prompting them to peel off and return to base.

6. If it happened off the coast of Venezuela,
Hugo would have launched into a tirade about border violations and summoned ambassadors for explanations. But then again, his air force is nothing but barnstormers compared to the IAF
