Nader to call for Bush impeachment in front of White House
Source: The Hill

Perennial also-ran presidential candidate Ralph Nader is planning to call for the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney in a news conference in front of the White House Friday.

Nader, whom many Democrats still blame for former Vice President Al Gore’s loss to Bush in 2000, has run in the last three presidential elections.

Nader rose to prominence as a consumer advocate but has fallen out of favor with many Democrats because they view him warily as a potential spoiler.

27. Nader has not been silent for 8 years: the media has ignored him.
He's been pro-impeachment for a long time. I might just stroll down the street and join him at the White House. I get depressed every time I walk past it, since Jan 2001.

34. Nader ran for office in 2000, and his supporters voted for him.
Ill advised? Perhaps, but mainly in hindsight. But we all know who committed CRIMINAL ACTS to put that lying Chickenhawk in the White House, and it was NOT Ralph Nader or those who voted for him! And don't forget Ohio in 2004!

Consider this coming November, and the possibility (however remote) of McCain getting the vote (or close enough to steal). With FAR greater justice, we could hold Hillary mainly responsible for that!

So WHO here is for IMPEACHMENT?

17. That asshole.
There is no single person more responsible for the disaster visited upon our nation than Ralph Nader. He took more votes away from Al Gore than the entire GOP could steal at the time. If just one percent of the 97,000 Floridians who voted for him had done the smart thing and voted for Gore, we'd be living in an entirely different world right now. Now our air and water are dirtier, exactly how much we don't know because all we know for sure is that our government never tells us the truth anymore. Half of our wetlands are actually golf course water hazards. We're planning on burning the last six inches of midwestern topsoil through our SUVs.

And that sonofabitch has the balls to show up now, seven years later, and say we should impeach the man he made king? Fuck him.

I have a proposal: let's talk Nader into running for Congress instead, so that when he gets elected we can impeach HIM, just for being the asshole who destroyed our nation.

Gore chose Lieberman to overcome the Clinton effect. Had Gore simply replaced Clinton, the VP would have been appointed and there would have been no need to go to Joe.

...that he's doing. I hated that Nader ruined 2000. But he knows a lot. He has a history of accomplishment in getting legislation done (consumer safety). He will draw attention to issues that most people (unlike we here) have not been paying attention to. I wouldn't write him off so quickly. ;)

42. Fat chance! The Democrats are too cowardly to even enforce their own subpoenas!
and have- JUST AS NADER PREDICTED been complicit with the far right and passed almost every single piece of Republican legislation, no matter egregious, and confirmed almost every single nominee no matter how extreme.

And yet, the Nader hating clones (who can't get their facts straight) blame him for all that's happened, rather than getting a clue about (and attempting to change) the nature of their own party.

Frankly, it's pathetic.

43. Well said!
Maybe it's just the better view from across the pond that gives
more perspective but it really is pathetically sad how so many
self-declared "Democrats" blame Nader for the total incompetence
of what they believe is their own party.

Gore isn't (and wasn't) "the same as Bush" so Nader was *wrong*
to use that as a slogan. (It would have been true when comparing
the VPs but that wasn't as catchy was it?)

However, the action of both parties over these 7 years have highlighted
very few other differences so Nader was *almost* right. Bet that really
sticks in the craw of the "blame anyone other than the oligarchy" crowd.

Hell, just look at who started in the primaries and who you've ended
up with ... the best "democracy" money can buy ...
