Pelosi blasts, McCain defends Bush comments
Posted: 10:30 AM ET

From CNN Correspondent Dana Bash, CNN's Deirdre Walsh, CNN's Rebecca Sinderbrand

McCain and Pelos reacted to the president's speech.
WASHINGTON (CNN) – Speaker Nancy Pelosi blasted President Bush's comments Thursday suggesting that Democrats believe "we should negotiate with terrorists and radicals" and suggested Senator John McCain denounce them.

But the presumptive Republican nominee himself defended the remarks, said he intended to make Barack Obama’s willingness to consider dialogue with Iran an issue in the fall campaign, calling on the Illinois senator to “explain to the American people.”

“It is a serious error on the part of Senator Obama that shows naiveté and inexperience and lack of judgment — to say that he wants to sit down across the table from an individual who leads a country who says that Israel is a stinking corpse, that is dedicated to the extinction of Israel,” said McCain Thursday. “My question is, what does he want to talk about?”

Pelosi, who is leaving later today on a bipartisan congressional trip to Israel, said there is a "protocol" of not criticizing the President when he is abroad, but then declared, "I think what the president did in that regard is beneath the dignity of the office of president and unworthy of our representation at that observance in Israel."

2. Keep your friends close,
and your enemies closer.

Apparently Sun-Tzu's The Art of War was not required reading at the United States Naval Academy when Sen. McCain attended.

Sticking your head in the sand (the current administration's preferred method of dealing with enemies) doesn't seemed to have panned-out all that well.

4. What I find interesting about Bush and his statement is that
he is obviously using the fear factor here, but more importantly he is trying to persuade public opinion against any efforts by the Dems to actually resolve conflicts.Resolving conflicts would actually work as a result of negotiations...meeting with Hamas is one example, considering the neocon foreign policy stance hasn't worked and never will. Bush wants to play that his stance represents a "strong" American foreign policy, when in fact we know it is just the opposite. I hope Obama does not fall for this garbage, as he has already backpeddled away from meeting with Hamas. Obama should do what Carter did, and remind American's that polls within Israel indicate that more than 60% of Israelis want those negotiations.

5. I couldn't care less about anything Pelosi has to say.
She only snipes at easy targets. She turns tail and runs when the real work presents itself. AFAIAC she's simply another *bush/mcsame enabler.

7. Bush is not the president.
He did not win the presidency in 2000 and is unworthy to represent this nation in such a historic land.

I look forward to seeing Bush behind bars..

20. While I agree on STOLEN elections . . . probably going back to at least mid-1960's via computer ...
I don't think that this has quite been the "land of the free/home of the brave" that we have
been educated to think ---

We all have to wake up and see the political violence -- very OVERT political violence -- even over past decades ---

The violence and deception of the CIA all over the world --- even betrayal of our presidents!!!

This gene pool begins with STEALING this land from the native American --- and genocide!!!

We're in the same gene pool now and it's always been violent!!!

8. Hahahahaha! Way to separate yourself from Bush, McCain
I am amazed daily by how clueless the Republicans are. I just read an article in NYT saying that the Republican Congress and McCain are going to separate themselves from the Bush administration so they can win in November. Then John "Clueless" McCain defends Bush's stupid remarks. Way to go down the primrose path--keep up the good work!

9. Pelosi has fought to keep Bush and gang in power....
so should keep her trap shut. She has been a disgrace for a House Speaker. She probably called Bush for permission to voice her opinion.

11. McCain and Israel
Do not get me wrong, I have no problem with Israel, but it is interesting to see McCain jump on Obama about wanting to try and find some solutions in this world in a way that does not involve the US getting our soldiers killed for no good reason at all, not that I think there is ever a good reason to get anyone killed. I just read that McCain brought up Iran's president calling Israel a stinking corpse. Gee, being a Catholic and a citizen of the country he is running for president in, it would have been nice to hear that kind of comment about Hagee, whom he sought out for an endorsement, and his comments about the Catholic church being The Great Whore. I would guess that the votes of one are so much more important that the other. McCain, before you worry about protecting the people of another country, try defending the people in your own.
