Vandals have desecrated 148 Muslim graves in France's biggest WWI cemetery, officials have said.

A pig's head was hung from one headstone and slogans insulting Islam and France's Muslim justice minister were daubed on other graves.

President Nicolas Sarkozy condemned the attack as a "hateful act" and the "most inadmissible kind of racism".

About 78,000 colonial subjects of France, including many Muslims from North Africa, died in the war.

3. One of the things I fear most in this world is the growing hatred against

diversity. I know that the world is changing and that part of that change is racial diversity in countries that have been mostly white up until now. This includes the US.

I was forced to face it in my own family this week and have gone head to head with them for what I see as bigotry. We talked long enough to realize that it was not so much bigotry against any particular race but against fear of losing control of our own economy (China), being outnumbered for the first time in history and fear of religious diversity. I did not have a hard time debunking the last two as any kind of threat at all since they are not real threats to the individual. They merely bring us cultural diversity which can enrich out lives if we let it. In example one has only to look at the number of languages that a child in Europe learns simply because of their diversity. It does not seem to hurt their children. Diversity brings a widening understanding of the world we live in. We are no longer provincial.

What I tried to get them to see was that the developing countries are not to blame for our corporations moving jobs out of the US. It is the corporations that have betrayed us. In fact, I think that this development on a corporate level is hurting these countries more than helping. China is not going to be able to sustain indefinite growth any more than we are and they will also face the damage of added pollution in the end.

I asked my small grandson if he thought it would help our foster child in Tanzania more if we sent him a slave wage job or taught him to plant a tomato. My 7 year old immediately said, "Plant a tomato." Even at his age he understands sustainable living. He and I are sending a package of tomato seeds in our next letter with easy instructions for planting. Hopefully the powers that be will let them be mailed and that they will grow for our young friend.

This is the work of bigots. So filled with hate for Muslims, they feel the need to attack those who cannot defend themselves. I really despise those who do things like this!

5. My husbands brother

is restoring an old cemetary with past relatives in it that was defaced during WW2.The headstones were toppled and defaced. It was a German immigrant church's cemetary in Pittsburgh. Nothing has changed. There are ignorant people everywhere.

A Catholic priest was shot dead in Iraq a day or two ago. Why? religion. This whole screwed up Iraq occupation is biased toward killing "worthless muslims", and of course they want to blow up anything we have here because we are desecrating their holy grounds with our infidel blood in the ME.

Religion seems to be a nice way to keep people hating and killing each other. Sad, sad, sad.

ABLAIN-SAINT-NAZAIRE, France (AFP) - Vandals desecrated 148 Muslim graves in France's biggest war cemetery, hanging a pig's head from one tombstone and daubing slogans insulting France's Muslim justice minister, officials said Sunday.

President Nicolas Sarkozy expressed "profound outrage" at the "sordid" attack on the Muslim quarter of the Notre Dame de Lorette cemetery, near the northern town of Arras on Saturday night. He vowed that those responsible would be punished.

The cemetery is France's biggest military graveyards and commemorates tens of thousands of victims of a series of long and bloody battles for control of northern France at the start of World War I.

The attack came almost exactly a year after a similar incident in which neo-Nazi vandals scrawled swastikas on 52 of the cemetery's Muslim graves.
