Sealer recalls clinging naked to piece of ice
Survivors give a detailed account of their escape, as the vessel's sinking renews attention this week on the controversial seal hunt
ANDY BLATCHFORD AND LES PERREAUX

Claude Deraspe, was naked and clinging to a piece of ice in the North Atlantic when he noted with grim satisfaction that his bone-chilling escape from L'Acadien II had accomplished at least one thing.

3. I'm glad the two sealers survived
and I'm sorry for the losses to the families of those that perished.

I'm glad that boat is no more, and their sealing season is over.
