CIA officers warn of Iraq civil war, contradicting Bush's optimism
WASHINGTON - CIA officers in Iraq are warning that the country may be on a path to civil war, current and former U.S. officials said Wednesday, starkly contradicting the upbeat assessment that President Bush gave in his State of the Union address.

The CIA officers' bleak assessment was delivered verbally to Washington this week, said the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the classified information involved.

1. You hardly need classified info to know this
Scenario 1: Shi'ites get general election early. Shi'a majority government put in place. Sunnis aggreived.

Scenario 2: Shi'a don't get general election and are forced to use US caucus system. Shi'a become anti-US.

Like we all said earlier.

5. Bush wants out in time for his re-selection.....
But a raging civil war in Iraq leading up to the election isn't going to look too good for the chimp.

We can also look forward to a civil war in THIS country if the stupid son of a bitch is re-selected. Lots of people are simply not going to put up with another four years of this bullshit.

10. And to think this group of neocon morons had designs on the entire
Middle East.

Looks like the New American Century is coming to an abrupt close. Let's recap the damage so far:

+ Captured one defanged old tyrant that Dad installed.

Cost:

-500 American lives
-3,000+ American injuries
-10,000+ Iraqi lives
-unknown injuries
-$200BB and climbing
-Iraq now a net importer of oil (paid by the US taxpayer)
-Loss of international goodwill
-damages the credibility of future Presidents to wage war on behalf of legitimate US security.
-Al Qaeda appreciates the US help in radicalizing the State of Iraq.
-US actions enhance OBL's Al Qaeda recruiting. OBL thanks George for leaving Saudi Arabia.
-Afghanistan is backsliding into Taliban control.
-9/11 perps still not brought to justice
-US actions damages the credibility of the UN in mediating international conflicts.

Yes, I'd say the brilliant brain trust of this administration have brought forth one hell of a Pox Americana.

12. I guess the CIA has learned something about intelligence
since Vietnam and Iran. The fall of those two countries came as a complete surprise them. I suppose it doesn't hurt to have an agent hiding behind every sand dune either.
