Libertarians seek Barr candidacy
Source: Washington Times

Former Rep. Bob Barr of Georgia is considering a third-party presidential run — a bid that could steal support from Republican John McCain and potentially offset the damage Ralph Nader"s candidacy is predicted to have on the Democratic candidate.

Mr. Barr, a House Republican impeachment manager during President Clinton's administration, yesterday confirmed his interest in running as a Libertarian but said he is unwilling to talk about any "polling we may have done or may do, not at this point."

"There is great deal dissatisfaction with the candidates for the two major parties, particularly among conservatives, but also a great deal of Internet and other support for a candidate like Ron Paul who advocates libertarian and true conservative principles," said Mr. Barr, who is now a Libertarian.

1. Well the Libertarians remain clueless and Barr remains irrelevant.
It's a perfect match, really.

3. Barr? He's marginal at best, IMO. Which is why he's absolutely perfect
for the Libertarians.

7. Good question. I'm not sure he can pull this off.
I'm not even sure he can pull himself off, as far as that goes.

11. He has changed his tune.
Became a lobbyist for the ACLU and works with the Marijuana Policy Project, if I recall correctly.

6. Better the Libertarian Party than the Constitution Party
I'd rather have the Libertarian Party siphon votes from McCain. At least Libertarians support the Separation of Church and State. The Constitution Party wants to supplant common law with Biblical law.

8. The meaning of "Libertarian Party" is pretty vague...
There are liberal Libertarians and conservative Libertarians, who go by the motto "Liberty for me".

9. Ron Paul couldn't get anywhere with all the
internet warriors and cash he (allegedly) raised...What make Barr think he could even get a crumb of attention this late in the game?

17. Have the Libertarians decided which state they're gonna take over?
I was always intrigued by that idea, of getting a bunch of like-minded people together to control a single state's government from bottom to top.

It worked for Utah!
