Wright leaves Obama campaign
Edited on Fri Mar-14-08 07:17 PM by RamboLiberal

Spokesman Tommy Vietor emails:

"Rev. Wright is no longer serving on the African American Religious Leadership Committee."

That cuts Wright's only formal tie to Obama, and answers what was sure to be a question in Obama's interviews tonight: If Geraldine Ferraro had to leave the Clinton campaign, why is Wright different.

On edit MSNBC: Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential campaign announced Friday that his former pastor had left the campaign’s spiritual advisory committee after the pastor’s inflammatory sermons ignited fierce debate in news accounts and political blogs.

The campaign said the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., who Obama has said brought him to Christianity, was “no longer serving” on Obama’s African American Religious Leadership Committee, a loose group of supporters associated with the campaign, NBC’s Mark Murray reported.

It was not clear whether Wright volunteered to leave the committee as controversy swirled over his sermons or whether the campaign asked him to leave. Wright was the latest in a series of advisers to Obama and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton who have stepped aside as supporters of both candidates trade racially charged accusations.

Now Obama and Clinton, get down to the issues like the tanking economy and the Irar war and tell your more verbose and nutty supporters to STFU!

1. But for twenty years, this was Christianity to Barack Obama.
Sure, kids, Barry doesn't agree with any of it. Except for the last 20 years. No problem with this bigot teaching his children, either.

Waffling, Barry. Waffling.

7. You're use of "Barry" is condescending.
It reminds me of how the GOP renamed William Horton "Willie" Horton.

I hope you support the Democratic nominee - I know I will be.

10. Is Obama to blame?
First off I don’t blame Obama for what his pastor said. I am a democrat and I go to a church made up of mostly Republicans and there are things said some times that I don’t agree with but I am there for the worship and fellowship I am quite close with my pastor but I don’t agree with every thing he says all the time. I know my Parents feel the same way at there church.
I think it is ridicules to think that Barack Obama, who was raised in a loving home by his white mother and white grandparents, is racist toward white people because of something his pastor said. I also think that it is sad that in America a country made of many different immigrants and cultures people can be so closed minded and angered by people who’s thoughts and culture differ from there own.
I don’t agree with every thing that the Rev. Jeremiah Wright had to say and I can see how the over all message could have been lost to those who are easily offended but I do think that he had a valid point that most Americans are afraid to talk about. No one wants to ask the question why do these people hate us so much. I in no way think that the 9-11 attacks were justified and I was just as horrified and saddened buy the attacks when they took place but I do not think that it is wise for us too call whole countries of people evil. We can’t expect to just wipe out all these people who believe in their cause so much that they are willing to die for it. Some of these people might have a legitimate grievance that no one on this side is willing to listen to because no one is willing to admit that some mistakes may have been made by the United States of America. Our Government must be able communicate with these people and try to reach some compromises these are simple things that we teach our children to do. America can not turn a deaf ear on people we deem to be less important then the interest of big business or money.
This country was partly founded by people coming here to escape religious persecution. Many people fought and died through out history so they can believe what their hearts told them to believe in, and part of what they died for was idea of the separation of Church and State. This was done so people could believe what they wont without being persecuted and told what they can or can not believe by their Government. I am saddened to see that religion plays such a big part today in our government and that people choose to vote on their religion rather then the real issues that effect not just in America but the world. I think that a lot of Americans have forgotten what it means to be an American.

I know it's all the rage in the USA to be gung ho on superstition and submission to imaginary beings (and their self-proclaimed real-life "proxies" like this dolt Wright.) But it isn't for me. Sorry.

9. Discrimination is not all black
Basically I am quite sick of hearing about how the blacks suffered (historically)...the past is the past. White people suffer too and driscrimination is not for the blacks to claim only. What is sad is that when a white supports a white that's considered racist...but when blacks support blacks that's not supposed to be racist? Come on...I think this black power/brotherhood nonsense is getting out of hand.

13. Controversial minister leaves Obama campaign
Source: MSNBC

Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., condemned racially charged sermons by his former pastor Friday and urged Americans not to reject his presidential campaign because of “guilt by association.”

Obama’s campaign announced that the minister, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., had left its spiritual advisory committee after videotapes of his sermons again ignited fierce debate in news accounts and political blogs.

Obama did not clarify whether Wright volunteered to leave his African American Religious Leadership Committee, a loose group of supporters associated with the campaign, or whether the campaign asked him to leave.

“I think there was recognition that he’s obviously on the verge of retirement, he’s taking a sabbatatical and that it was important for him to step out of the spotlight in this situation,” Obama said.

14. Only in this country does running for office require one to pretend such a high degree of bs
This country's fake morality requires people to pretend to be sexually pure when almost no one is (particularly not the right wing and Bible bangers!), and demands that no one speak the truth about the crimes of the rich and powerful. It makes me sick.

16. What utter bullshit, Sarah Ibarruri.
No one "demands that no one speak the truth about the crimes of the rich and powerful."

When racist anti-American pastors are on your support team, you either denounce them or expect to lose the election.

Wright is a racist - his generalizations about the races are virulent, divisive and stupid. Obama hasn't done nearly enough to distance himself from Wright's remarks.

The United States is a morally bankrupt nation responsible for most of the evil of the world.

Whatever country you were born in you should return to as soon as possible. I'm fairly sure it is lightyears ahead of the USA in all ways. Please leave for your own sake.

37. No. Racism is repugnant: Wright's racism or the KKK.
Finding some racism to be "ok" is an excuse for race hatred. I think the KKK could use you in their recruitment efforts... racism is ok if you think it's based on "truth."

That's a truly disgusting attitude, Sarah Ibarruri.

Notice the interviews showing how much parishioners believe in this guy and his radical hate speech.

They think there's nothing radical about it, it's inspired and inspirational.

And remember that Obama who titled his book Audacity of Hope after a quote from Rev. Jeremiah Wright!

23. Can Fox be "fair and balanced" when Murdoch supports Hillary?
Fox "news" has been running the story about Obama's
minister all day yesterday and much of today, March 15th.
What I'd like to know is where is the disclaimer from Fox that
Rupert Murdoch is a supporter of Hillary Clinton's campaign?

On July 17th of 2006, Rupert Murdoch held a fundraiser for
Hillary Clinton at his Newscorp midtown tower in New York.
Roger Ailes was in attendance.

In August of 2006, Murdoch played host to Bill Clinton at a
Newscorp retreat in California.

Hillary defended Rupert's fundraiser in an interview with the
London Financial Times. She said "He's my constituent
and I'm very gratified that he thinks I'm doing a good
job."

It was reported on the Huffington post in July of 2007 that
Rupert Murdoch had donated $2300 and his son James gave $3400
to Hillary's campaign. Newscorp/Fox executives gave a total
of more than $40,000 to Hillary's campaign.

How is that "fair and balanced" news when Murdoch is
obviously backing Hillary Clinton?

30. Sorry.....
....but how is it different from a white politician belonging to a racist all white country club here? You cannot be a candidate that purports change and hope, to rise upon racism and yet belong to a church who's pastor is a racist. You can't have it both ways, either the racist white country club and the racist black church are both wrong or neither are wrong. That is how you rise above both wrongs not by excusing one and condemning the other. They are both wrong and both should be condemned. Barack Obama needs to quit this church or I am afraid he is done for this election cycle.
