King (R-Ia) may have stirred up a real fight (terrorists would celebrate a Barack Obama presidency)

BY JOSEPH MORTON

WASHINGTON - U.S. Rep. Steve King's remarks that terrorists would celebrate a Barack Obama presidency have stirred such controversy that his likely Democratic challenger is hoping to capitalize on them.

King, R-Iowa, is known for making provocative statements. He set off the latest firestorm when he said last week that terrorists would be dancing in the streets if Obama, a Democrat, wins the White House.

King, 58, said he bases that prediction on Obama's plans to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq and on his middle name, Hussein.

Rep. Steve King's comment that terrorists will "dance in the streets" if Barack Obama is elected president gives Democrats hope of giving him a battle in Iowa's 5th District.

snip Retired Presbyterian minister Rob Hubler of Council Bluffs is the only Democrat running against King after two other candidates pulled out. The filing deadline is today.

1. That's a Mighty Slim Reed to Put Your Hopes On
GOPpers don't mind a little crazy talk. You have to find a real crime to knock a candidate out.

4. What's with stupid "King" Republican Representatives?
Today we have this Rep. "Steve King" idiot from Iowa and his dumb comments about Obama. A week or two ago we had Rep. "Jack Kingston" of Georgia on Dan Abrams saying that Obama was unpatriotic for not wearing a flag lapel pin (what a stupid thing to say!) while not wearing one himself. And don't forget this video of Rep. "Peter King" of NY saying that being in Baghdad is like being in Manhattan and everything is fine in Iraq.

Are all Republican Representatives this stupid, or just the ones with "King" in their names?

6. Here's what Obama should say in return:
"Rep King is a pathetic little man who should be an embarrassment to the people of his district and the US Congress. His words demonstrate the the GOP's only hope to survive is outlandishly divisive slander and character assassination. I am sorry to say that candidate McSame and the rest of their party will be trying alot of the same pitiful rhetoric over the upcoming months. Unfortunately for them Americans are far too smart to fall for it again."

7. calling a congressman a "pathetic little man" doesn't sound very presidential.
neither does using the term "mcsame". otherwise, it isn't too bad.

8. When will this imbecile STFU?
It seems like every few months he emerges to say something new and idiotic. He seems to be nothing more than a right-wing shit-stirrer, who can get away with being nothing more than this due to his having a safe seat. I'd like to think his having a challenger might mean something, but I believe he has one of the more Republican seats in the country. Sad, because, due to the way IA formulates their Congressional districts, most of them seem to be pretty competitive; not this fool's, apparently. He's up there with Patrick McHenry and Jack Kingston (and probably a couple of other big ones I'm forgetting) in a competition for "Most Obnoxious Wingnut in Congress."

13. But Obama said he would go after the original al-Qaeda
in Afghanistan and Pakistan. I don't think Bin Laden will be celebrating when he hears that.

(Bush-Cheney won't be too happy either because they never intended to go after Bin Laden).
