4. So, where have the Democrats been on impeachment with bush?
I am not saying whether spitzer should or should not be impeached, that is the business of New York

but what I am saying is that rove LIED under oath. bush and his administration did illegal wire tapping, along with a host of other questionable activities, and what is the Democratic response to this?

41. We hold a lot of Committee Hearings
that accomplish exactly nothing. We issue Congressional subpoenas that are ignored and/or laughed at. We tsk-tsk-tsk a lot. We wring our hands a lot. We take impeachment off the table while the Constitution is being publicly raped. Republicans couldn't care less about taking the high road. They kick you in the balls, go for the jugular and will spend any amount of money (vide: Ken Starr).

Of all people, he knew he was breaking the law, and precisely which ones.

I'm just saying that we seem to focus on one type of felony over other crimes against our constitution.

No ifs or buts about it. We can't expect to hold anyone else to a higher standard if we don't do it ourselves. Bye-bye, Spitzer, you f*cking idiot.

Don't the Repukes know that impeachment is a sure-fire, guaranteed losing issue?!?!

They have just guaranteed that the Dems will win every seat in the NY legislature!

If there's one thing we've learned from the Democratic Congress, it is this: if you put impeachment on your table, you LOSE!!!!! If you keep it off the table you WIN AUTOMATICALLY AND FOREVAR!!!!

22. At least one NY Democrat wants Spitzer to resign...
Suffolk Democratic Party chairman Richard Schaffer called for Spitzer's resignation. "I think it's best that he step down," Schaffer said. "We're all hoping he figures that out over the next couple of days. But for everyone, including his family, I think it's best that he step aside."

Not only that, but there is more and more evidence that this investigation was another political witch hunt. That can only help him.

24. I agree, and I hope Spitzer does resign.
As a Democrat who lives in the state of New York, I am appalled by Spitzer's actions. What he did was not just an affair - it was PROSTITUTION! Something he'd fought against and railed against as attorney general! His administration was supposed to "Bring Some Passion Back To Albany". Well, he brought the passion back alright. Everything was supposed to change on "Day One". Nothing changed. His adminstration has thus far been a failure and if he stays in office, it will only increase the deadlock in a state that has been stuck in the mud for years now.

Spitzer betrayed the Democratic party and the people of my state. Defending him only makes us look like partisan ideologues. He did wrong and should be punished.

Rep should discretely let it be know to the State House that if Spitzer is impeached before all the facts are known and he has a chance to step down or do what is appropriate then they should expect Bu$h, Cheney and a few other notable RePukes will also be facing impeachment.

33. NY Republicans threaten to impeach Spitzer
Source: Retuers

NEW YORK (Reuters) - State Republicans threatened on Tuesday to impeach New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer if he does not quit over a sex scandal that has raised questions over whether he could face criminal charges.

The threat added to pressure on Spitzer, a Democrat and former state chief prosecutor who made his name fighting white-collar crime on Wall Street, to step down after a report that he hired a high-priced prostitute.

35. Let them
Most often the party launching impeachment will overstep the boundries of decency in their zeal to throw dirt, making them look like a group on a witch hunt.

That would be more damaging to the NY GOP than the Democrats in the long run.

Imagine, if our Democrats in Congress were even half as outraged over BushCo as the rethugs are over this. Oh, they talk a fair deal about how "outraged" they are - but how many Democrats do you actually hear pushing for impeachment? A few, but not nearly enough. WHERE IS OUR OUTRAGE?
