Obama says he will sharpen criticism
Edited on Wed Mar-05-08 03:10 PM by David Zephyr
Source: Associated Press

CHICAGO - Democratic Sen. Barack Obama on Wednesday blamed his primary defeats in Ohio and Texas on rival Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's criticism and news converage that he argued benefited her at his expense.

The presidential candidate said he planned to do more in the days ahead to raise doubts about his opponent's claims to foreign policy and other Washington experience. In a television ad that her campaign credits with helping her win, she portrayed herself as most prepared to handle an international crisis.

"What exactly is this foreign policy experience?" Obama asked mockingly. "Was she negotiating treaties? Was she handling crises? The answer is no."

5. Don't think so.
He only gives himself permission to let that anger out when he's had a big WIN. He'll be much more careful with three losses. He is an extremely controlled man. But he was abandoned by both his father and his mother and he still can't admit that about mommy. So the anger shows up, but only when he thinks he's so far ahead he can afford it.

So I don't expect to see it now.

9. It's not the debate. It's how it's conducted that wins points.
NO president ever enters office with that particular experience. Especially since we favor governors who never negotiate international deals except with large corporations. But we have no star governors in this race, so it's really a silly argument.

Except that Hillary has been around for many foreign policy discussions that Obama was not, because he was in a STATE senate, which, again, deals with domestic, not foreign issues. She does have the benefit of knowing the international players, their names, their histories, their foibles. That's real. That's useful.

But it isn't a treaty negotiation. Neither of them has that.

33. I want to hire who (I believe) can get the job done.
This "experience" issue is being portrayed as the years of service section on a resume. The problem is, you have to guard against turning it into cronyism and otherwise ivory tower games.

10. Her major crisis was in dealing with her husband's impeachment
and the humiliation he put her though..and the crisis of being investigated for so many things over a decade..

and on how to avoid letting republicans get hold of documents that might cause trouble for them

and how to keep the healthcare meetings secret.

Other than those, I cannot think of any crisis that she was involved with or SHOULD have been involved with..She was the First Lady..not a cabinet member or elected official..

as a senator, she is one of 100, and was in the minority for a long time, so any crisis involving her was not hers alone..or even in her control

32. But, as a gentleman, BHO has resisted using this because
to do so would make him a "bully".."pickin' on the poor widdle betrayed woman", and all the women who support her and who ahve also been cheated on, would hate hime for bringing it up..

So she's free to attack him but he cannot question her interpretation of crisis without being a mean ole man

27. Yep, Anyone in the DNC, Help these two wake up!
We should not let the candidates tear each other up. We must behave civilly. I wish for Sen. Clinton, and Sen. Obama to not tear up this party. Anyone in the DNC, please contact these two. Please get a guideline for political debate and rhetoric together. We must remain loyal to the Democratic Party to have a chance to win in November. The Republicans must lose!

Will his campaign re-float the rumor of Hillary's girlfriend? That would be pretty hypocritical after claiming the high ground on gay rights. Time will tell.

30. Kerry tried staying on the high road even when things got rough
look where it got him in 04--swiftboated into defeat.

When the 'high road' is no longer a viable path to victory, one is forced to take a detour.

31. My comment was limited to his behavior in the primary races.
Sorry I didn't mention that. After the nomination, the principal opponent changes and he has to pull out ALL the stops. The rethugs don't deserve any leeway whatsoever. Obama, in his very articulate manner will, I'm sure, run a good race against them. My only concern is that he may be too good a man to realize just how evil his opposition are and thus may not respond quickly or forcefully enough.

The Bonesman you refer to was and still is a total embarrassment to the Democratic Party. He sold out at the first opportunity and also the last. What a slithering example of Democratic leadership. He should leave politics in shame and help his wife run her affairs (imho).
