Bush may move to Dallas after leaving White House
Source: Dallas Morning News

President quoted as calling Leppert 'my new mayor'

Mr. Bush, greeting a handful of mayors Wednesday at the White House, stopped when he saw Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert.

"There's my new mayor," the president was quoted as saying.

Asked Friday what he recalled of Mr. Bush's comments, Mr. Leppert said that he didn't hear the statement verbatim and that Arlington Mayor Robert Cluck was perhaps in better earshot as they stood together with other mayors in the Roosevelt Room...

Mr. Bush may also have stated flat-out: "I'm moving to Dallas," according to Mr. Cluck...

"People who know the real me understand that I am a Connecticut 'blueblood' preppy cheerleader deserter homelander, who hates horses, and hates the country. But in order to create the illusion that I am (smirk) 'a regular guy' we been using the Pig Farm prop in Crawford. Smirk. Americans will swallow just about any kind of phony propaganda crap our republicon corporate media borg shoves at them. Like the WMD story (smirk), the 'ranch' (smirk) has been very useful (smirk).

I joined the Crawford vigil when Cindy Sheehan was there. It was crystal clear to me that once out of the WH, there would be no more days @ the pig farm in Crawford. The pig farm being in the middle of no where, off a crumbling asphalt, completely uninteresting, lane & 1/2 county road, is not where one retires. I'm willing to bet bucks that pickles, once saurove's minions found the place in 1999, made non-retirement a condition for moving there.

73. Corporate boards have been known to "award" positions to certain
individuals as a courtesy, as a matter of using the new trustee as a tool of influence and networking, etc. by appealing to his vanity. This new trustee can be outvoted and held harmless by other members of the Board. I conceive * joining a Board would be with this understanding.

crawford it was about two years before the 2000 election....he never used it before he was president and it has only been a prop for 7 years...as we say in Texas he is all hat no cattle...any real Texan would move from the city to the ranch in your latter years of life not the other way around.

Some folks over there are deluded into thinking that George is a big time mountain biker with sweet singletrack on his ranch. Truth is, he likes to ride a bike on dirt roads for show.

No true mountain biker would move away from his "sweet singletrack".

just in case things get a little to "democracyic", and with to much richly deserved "justiciness" making the little lord pissypants uncomfortable, i would bet the farm that he will have his own private jet waiting at the dallas/ft worth airport, round the clock, with a full tank that would make it all the way to paraquay with no refueling.

and i bet he wouldn't even bother to get clearance to take off...

within 30 minutels of making the decision, he would be out of reach.

52. Yes we did! We absolutely called it! We KNEW he was a phony.
Edited on Sat Jan-26-08 06:26 PM by calimary
Because the pig farm was little more than a facade so he could look like some macho cow-poke wilderness boy out clearing brush trying to look like his would-be "soul mate" ronnie reagan. Maybe ronnie was the "higher father" he gushed about once upon a time. But reagan could at least find his way around a horse - AND wasn't scared of horses, either. Any self-styled cowboy or rancher, once finished with a big city-type job, would break all land speed records getting back to the ranch to live out the rest of his days in the land that really holds his heart. Not this phony-baloney!

And, ladies and gentlemen, there you have the ONLY positive thing I can think of to say about ronald reagan. Thank you very much. Don't forget to tip yer waitress.

39. He can say Dallas but it is Highland Park ($$$$$$$$)
where it is that he will be moving.
Sick of him trying to make it look like Dallas likes him. Dallas County went 49% for Kerry in 2004, kicked out all of it's repuke judges in 2006 (local repuke blamed chimp and the current puke regime for this), Dallas county voters also elected a Hispanic lesbian for county sheriff in 2004 (any one care to ask him about "his" county sheriff?)

Remember when chimp had a televised "rally" the eve of the 2004 election and it as shown on the news as a Dallas rally for the fool? He snuck into Highland Park literally at midnight and attended a closed door, ticket-only gathering (hand picked group, in other words) at SMU which is pretty much in Highland Park and made it look like he had tons of Dallas supporters. Meanwhile Kerry was holding huge outdoor, public rallies in cities around the country. THAT is something chimp could not get away with in downtown Dallas.
It is SMU that is supposed to build his library so he will never even have to leave Highland Park, it will be spitting distance from his house, no doubt.

88. Sounds like he hates Dallas residents as he does New Yorkers.
The Republican National Convention was held in New York City in 2004, and security measures rendered the city, as a New York friend of mine put it, "a concentration camp." Wheelchair users (!) were made to go blocks out of their way in the name of providing protection for the RNC.

After all that, Bush came into the city just to accept the nomination and then beat a hasty retreat into Pennsylvania (then counted as a swing state but won by Kerry). Bush might have well just put on an I hate New York t-shirt and have had done with it. Heaven knows the feeling was mutual.

I predict a "foundation" made up of Bush "supporters" will buy it and Junior will reap a huge windfall - kind of like he did with the Texas Rangers windfall.

I think we all knew this would happen since back in 2001. Junior has no connection with rural life or Crawford.

That's just the place for him.

Actually, too good for him.

50. I wonder what the people in Crawford think
The ranch will have to be gutted because it's got so much security and communications equipment. All state of the art no doubt. It probably has spy cameras and audio equipment in every single room. There was a reason why he always invited the leaders of other countries to the ranch. To spy on them. It wouldn't surprise me if they tore the whole thing down just to keep the secrets secret. Maybe there will be a bad fire that burns it down while no one's around around next December or January, just in time for the Bushes to leave the Whitehouse.

67. I read last year that he was not going to sell the pig farm
That he was going to split his time between the pig farm and Dallas. I imagine Pickles doesn't want to live at the pig farm full time while Bushie still wants to get back to his bike riding and brush clearing. I do think this guy is an exercise junkie. But I do think he bought the pig farm for show. As someone else said he is all hat and no cattle.

It has widely been thought Bush will return to Dallas next year after his term expires. He lived there when he was part-owner of the Texas Rangers, before becoming governor of Texas. Southern Methodist University in Dallas, the alma mater of Laura Bush, is the lone finalist to be the site of Bush's presidential library.

Bush is also expected to live some of the time at his ranch in Crawford, about 120 miles south of Dallas.

68. If he loved pig farms, why didn't he buy one earlier?
That thing - along with all the phony love of bike riding in the dirt, fishing in the fake fish'n hole, and the fake love of chain saw'n - is history. It was all part of his contract, but that gig is up in 12 months. And the Chimperdrinker is counting the days!

My bet is he will keep the pig farm. I do think he really likes the place and Pickles basically tolerates it.

105. Dallas is closer to his (their) social circle.
He doesn't exercise on the ranch that often, anyway. Just looking at the timeline of his life and residences it is easy to predict that Junior has no interest in living in any place like Crawford. He can build a million dollar gym in his suburban home and ride his little bike with the full power trip of SS protection.

The pig farm is history. The Chimp cashes in!

89. Seriously? I had Dubai in the office pool.
Seriously, I see no way he can live in the U.S. without harassment wherever he goes. If in the U.S., wouldn't he have to spend his entire life outside of earshot and the eyes of the public?

Even Repubs I know are mad about what has happened to the country and their party over the past eight years - they're not going to stick up for him in any meaningful way, they are already working hard to distance themselves from him (which breaks one of the basic tenets of their party).

I figured Uncle Dick would set him up with a gig with Haliburton in Dubai ... or just dump him entirely, now that he is finished with him.

106. Red state but in a 49% blue county..
in 2004, anyway. Can't wait to see what the county does this time around (after kicking out all repuke judges and electing all Dem ones in 2006).

I doubt we will see him strolling the streets of Dallas, probably won't leave Highland Park city limits unless limo'd to an occassional repuke gathering (if they will even invite him by then) or his "library" opening.
