World Bank Washington Buildings Closed Today After Bomb Threat
Source: Bloomberg

Jan. 18 (Bloomberg) -- The World Bank's Washington buildings, including its headquarters near the White House, will be closed today as a precaution after a bomb threat.

"World Bank Group Corporate Security is investigating a bomb threat received by telephone," the lender said in a statement posted on its Web site. "The bank is working with law enforcement officials to determine the validity of the threat."

Between 7,000 and 8,000 people work for the World Bank in Washington at its headquarters and at least five other buildings used by the bank in the city. The International Monetary Fund, which has its offices next to the World Bank, will be open.

"While there continues to be no credible information at this time warning of an imminent threat to the homeland, the department's strategic threat perspective is that we are in a period of increased risk," the department said in a statement on its Web site.

4. this is not the way to do it, but World Bank should be redirected, neutered, or shut down
they do incredible harm to most countries they touch with predatory lending practices.
