Edwards rallies supporters at Grand Sierra (Reno, NV)

In an election where candidates of both parties all calling for change, Democrat John Edwards said Wednesday he is the only candidate who can bring it about.

“I’m the only one who has never taken a dime from a Washington lobbyist or special interest PAC,” Edwards told a crowd of more than 1,000 people at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno.

Edwards, the former North Carolina U.S. senator and vice presidential candidate, said corporations and their lobbyists control Washington and the country needs a president that isn’t beholden to them.

“Nothing will change if we trade a bunch of corporate Republicans for a bunch of corporate Democrats,” Edwards said.
Edwards billed himself the underdog to frontrunners Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. A Reno Gazette-Journal poll released Monday showed him trailing both among likely caucus-goers. Obama led with 32 percent, Clinton with 30 and Edwards with 27 percent support.
“If you’ve been watching the national media for the last year or so, you might have thought there were only two Democrats in the election,” he said. “But if you saw the debate (in Las Vegas) last night, you saw there are three Democrats in this election.”

BTW, I got within 5 feet of John Edwards. I wanted to do a Hillary and cry! I couldn't breathe. I wanted to shake his hand but chickened out. It was too overwhelming.

I don't know how these people handle this on a daily basis.
