Bush predicts Mideast peace pact by 2009
Source: CNN

RAMALLAH, West Bank (CNN) -- President Bush met with Palestinian leaders in the West Bank on Thursday, predicting that a Middle East peace treaty would be signed by the time he leaves office in 2009.

Speaking at a joint news conference with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas -- and a day after meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert -- Bush said both men realize the importance of democratic states living together in peace.

"In order for there to be lasting peace, President Abbas and Prime Minister Olmert have to come together and make tough choices and I'm convinced they will," Bush said in Ramallah.

Abbas called on Israel to complete the terms of the road map, a U.S.-supported peace plan agreed upon in 2003. Under the road map, Israel must halt West Bank settlement activity and Palestinians must dismantle militant groups.

8. They quote Chimpolini in another article
saying, "I'm on a timetable. I've got 12 months."

Not only is 12 months not nearly enough time to salvage what's left of his disastrous Residency (and come on, this is more about trying to shore up his legacy than anything else), but now he suddenly believes in timetables!

I only wish he'd stay overseas for the rest of his term--he has a knack for going out of his way to make sure things turn to shit when he's actually in the U.S.

11. That's why he started the peace attempt this late in his presidency
He has absolutely no intention of brokering peace in the Middle East--and his handlers figured if he started way late in his second and final term (please, gods), he "wouldn't have enough time" to accomplish what far, far (FAR) greater minds have attempted in the past. Then he could say "Well, ah trahd..." and then go away to the "ranch" (PLEASE, gods).

9. he really is delusional
well we know that but dam it`s just hard to take that this guy has one more year....there will never be peace between these two until the people themselves decide they have to live with their neighbors.

10. There was a peace process in place
when Bushigula took office. He suspended it because he had to undo everything done by bill Clinton; the same as he did with North Korea. Now repeat after me: WMD, WMD, New-Q-lar, terra terra terra. All utterances emitted from the mouth of the worst chief executive in the history of the Universe are to be considered insane ramblings and disregarded as propaganda.

"Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more: it is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing."
(MacBeth, Act V., sc. v., ll. 24 -28)
