Blanco Takes Oath as Governor in La.
BATON ROUGE, La. — With a welcoming nod to business, Kathleen Blanco (search) took the oath of office Monday as Louisiana's first woman governor.

Blanco, the state's Democratic lieutenant governor, defeated conservative Indian-American Bobby Jindal (search) with 52 percent of the vote in a runoff election Nov. 15. The Republican incumbent, Gov. Mike Foster (search), was barred by law from seeking a third term.

2. I was wondering
why they found it neccessary to state "The Republican incumbent, Gov. Mike Foster (search), was barred by law from seeking a third term." That just sounded odd. I mean, lots of officeholders face term limits, why do we make a point of this guy? Because he's Republican?

Then I see it's Foxnews. Oh. :eyes:

I see that mentioned a lot. It should be in the story because it is part of the story of how she got elected. Not everything that everyone does is some sort of grand conspiracy to destroy the democratic party. I agree that Fox News is biased but I don't think this is an example.

It's an Associated Press story anyway.

...that the first item on her agenda would be HEALTH CARE! And all I can say is........YES! Finally, someone who GIVES A SHIT ABOUT THE SORRY STATE OF HEALTH CARE IN THIS COUNTRY.

5. It's time to redistrict Louisiana
I'm just using Republican Party logic: all state officeholders are Democrat and the legislature is Democrat so the state's congressional district boundaries shuold reflect that.
