Bill Clinton stumbles on stump for wife: "Partial clause in a sentence"
Source: USA Today

By Jill Lawrence, USA TODAY

WASHINGTON — It was a partial clause in a sentence uttered in Muscatine, Iowa. But Bill Clinton's assertion Monday that he'd opposed the Iraq war "from the beginning" triggered outbursts across the political spectrum. From the left, the right and the media establishment, the judgment was the former president had committed a gaffe that could hurt his wife's presidential bid.

"Bill Clinton Rewrites History on Iraq?" wondered ABC News' Political Radar blog. "A political blunder of monumental proportions," Dan Spencer wrote at the conservative Redstate.com. At liberal DailyKos.com, the headline was "Bill Clinton's 'truthiness' problem."

Clinton's comment, reported by the Associated Press, came in a discussion of tax cuts for wealthy Americans during wartime. "Even though I approved of Afghanistan and opposed Iraq from the beginning, I still resent that I was not asked or given the opportunity to support those soldiers," he said.

New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's campaign posted quotes Tuesday from Bill Clinton in which he highlighted his reservations about using force. Before the war started in 2003, he said that "we don't invade everybody whose regime we want to change" and that if Saddam Hussein disarms, the United States should seek regime change by helping his rivals. "As he said before the war and many times since, President Clinton disagreed with taking the country to war without allowing the weapons inspectors to finish their jobs," said campaign spokesman Jay Carson....

2. No sh*t
You know, I walk down a hillside trail every morning to go to the Gallery.

This trail winds between and behind some houses. One section behind one house consists of a series of round stepping stones, since that part of the trail is a seepage spot in the hillside. And the woman who owns the house is a stunner.

So I had this little cerebral episode recently and it has affected my equilibrium. Walking the trail has become quite a task.

Lately, I have been forced to work really hard on the above-mentioned section of said trail.

So the other day I was headed down and Stunner was in her garden. I stopped and talked. She asked me if I was making progress. I said yeah, but her section of trail was kicking my ass. She said she was trying to speed up my recovery by moving the steeping stones ever so slightly every couple of days to make me work a little harder.

I don't know exactly where I intended to go with this, but I am goddamned tired of the 'pubs controlling the agenda and the Dems just chasing the 'pubs talking points around.

4. Interesting story (analogy)
Makes sense to me, but I'll not explain why.

However you're last statement is the important one. When Clinton won his first election he did so by hijacking the 'pubs talking points and made them chase him.

Somehow the Dems have forgotten how to do that. Personally I blame pollsters and DLC boot licks.

7. most of them don't have the mental firepower to do it
sorry, but that's what I think. WJC was and is one smart SOB (and a nice one as well). They don't come around that good that often. He knew how to lead the tards around on their leash.

9. The corporate press has do pounce on everything so that Saint Rudy will win..
..oh wait.. I mean Saint Rudy will come convincingly close enough in their flawed polling so that when the election is stolen once again, no one will question it.

I find it so fucking sad that so many people on DU jump on this shit, when the REAL fight is not between our candidates, but is the fight at every pollings station where we'll be ripped off regardless of our candidate.

AND.. for the record Bill Clinton said on Public TV when the war started.. and I paraphrase "Saddam Hussein is a bad dude, no one is questioning that, but I do question the method they're using to remove him". He had publicly stated on TV that he didn't agree with the way the Bush Admin was going about removing Saddam.
