Evidence cited of Russian arms in Iraq
http://www.boston.com/news/world/articles/2004/01/10/evidence_cited_of_russian_arms_in_iraq/

WASHINGTON -- US officials have found evidence corroborating White House allegations that Russian companies sold Saddam Hussein high-tech military equipment that threatened US forces during the invasion of Iraq last March, a senior State Department official said yesterday.

The official said the United States has found proof that Russian companies exported night-vision goggles and radar-jamming equipment to Iraq, the official said. The evidence includes the equipment itself and proof that it was used during the war, according to the official. Such exports would violate the terms of United Nations sanctions against Iraq.

"We have corroborated some of that evidence," the official told a group of reporters.

While insisting that the matter is "now in the past," he said that the Bush administration "never received entirely satisfactory explanations" of its charges, and that the issue "is still a sensitive one in the relationship."

I think it may be time for Chimpy to take a second peek into Putin's eyes to see if he still sees the soul of a good man?

3. It's a good thing they didn't sell them 'command and control'
with that the Iraqi army might only have been routed instead of CRUSHED under the weight and technology of the Clinton developed American military.

Yeah those night vision goggles really dampened our military's vast superiority at night huh?

In all candor I have to say that I am shocked SHOCKED I tell you that ex-KGB mafiosos might not have played by the rules. What will they tell the preacher on Sunday?

Your point about W reassessing Putin's soul is well founded as the last time Putin was at Camp David right in front of W he said that there had been some talk that US troops in Afghanistan offered a unique opportunity to Russian forces and that without the relationship between the two he wasn't sure what course he would have decided on. W of course didn't realize that he just got threatened and told that nothing is sacred between the former adversaries.

5. It doesn't say...
when the devices were sold or used.

It sure seems odd that there was very little resistance.

6. Let's see...
Russia has been clear about wanting to maintain their presence in the Middle East (...after all, this IS all about maintaining access to oil borders...)

The Iraqi people wanted to be able to defend themselves and their country since the partial decimation of 1991

BushCo/Rove wants US citizens to embrace hating all others and to push the world back in time, including starting the Cold War over nuclear armament again

PNAC seeks global destabilization at all costs using force, lies, economic destruction within and beyond our borders

Am waiting and watching for more of this type of spin, such as making Russia the bad guys (not the US! by golly!) to ratchet up in speed and stinking global sewage spewing as election time draws near...

8. Hell... WE ARE using Russian equipment in Iraq
Edited on Sat Jan-10-04 12:23 PM by mouse7
There's a lot of troops sent to Iraq without rifles as standard issue for the specialties. They are using captured AK-47s.

Then you have the ammo shortages... so soldiers dealing with that are using captured AK-47s and RPGs.

9. I like the combined training with "blank" ammo - we shout "bang" while
the other countries troops have real blank ammo.

Hackworth has data on this - data that doesn't make the national media -

I wonder why!

:-)
