Conservative Talk Meets Its Match with the Debut of The Ed Schultz Show

WASHINGTON, Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- With the 2004 political campaign season underway, a new, progressive talk radio voice is emerging from the Heartland. Ed Schultz, the progressive radio talk show host from the Midwest, launched his national show from Fargo, N.D. with the January 5 debut of The Ed Schultz Show.
Schultz's inaugural three-hour show included four high profile guests -- Senators Tom Daschle, Hillary Rodham Clinton and Byron Dorgan, as well as Democratic Presidential candidate Howard Dean. Also expected in this week's lineup are presidential hopefuls Richard Gephardt, Wesley Clark and Joe Lieberman. The national show airs Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. EST.

"There is a conservative mantra on talk radio in this country," notes Schultz. "We want to tell the other side of the story." In a political year, Ed Schultz is committed to expanding the debate heard on talk radio so that the medium once again serves as a legitimate forum to educate and inform Americans.

3. Yer welcome. Anybody, please post links to local stations
We need to support this guy. I don't know much about him yet but apparently he's quite a fire eater. Gulp, hope he's talking good stuff. We need a progressive with guts!

June 1992
>>Ominous Polls:
A look at the Gallup polls over the past few moths show why Democrats are becoming increasingly nervous about putting Clinton at the head of their ticket.
In a head-to-head match up on March 20, Bush led by only 52-43 percent and Clinton was indeed within striking range. But as the weekly disclosures took their toll during the ensuing primaries, Clinton's margin fell to 54-38 percent on March 29 and then fell further to 54-34 by the beginning of April.
Edit ...
"The negatives are forming on Bill Clinton like a political stalactite, drop by drop," said veteran Democratic consultant David Sawyer. "Each drip leaves a residue that builds on his negative image."

2. Does anyone have a listing of affiliates?
I'd love to listen during my evening commute. I'm curious for Boston but I'm sure others are interested in other cities.

5. Jones Radio Network
Is syndicating the show (they also carry Neil Boortz, whaddya gonna do...). Their website has no release on Ed Shultz, and neither does Ed's own site.

I have a call in to Jone's local office in NYC and am waiting on a callback to find a list of stations carrying the program. Will post.

8. I don't think he's all that progressive.
At best I'd say he's a left-leaning independent. I haven't listened to his national show, but from listening to his local show "progressive" is not a label I would apply to Ed Schultz.
