<snip>

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Two loud blasts within seconds of each other shook Baghdad Tuesday, rattling windows across the center of the city.

There was no immediate word on what had caused the blasts.

Tuesday was the anniversary of the founding of the Iraqi army and police have been on high alert for attacks by guerrillas opposed to the U.S. occupation.

Police have said guerrillas usually plan major attacks on significant dates.

1. "guerrillas... plan...attacks on significant dates..."
...like Tuesdays. Or Wednesdays ...or days in English ending in "Y."

2. Correct...............
everyday is a significant day in the "new Iraq". The first day camels were allowed to be watered in the public fountains day, the first day of bread being packaged in plastic day.........I'm sure they could come up with 365 new "days" without much effort.

5. Seriously---any day a major attack is planned is SIGNIFICANT
But then it's not easy coming up with quotable lines every day.

4. HA! Changed the Title of the Story and....
revised the "story":

"Blasts in Baghdad Likely to be Controlled Explosions"!

<BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A series of loud blasts shook Baghdad Tuesday, rattling windows across the center of the city, but a U.S. military spokesman said at least two were controlled explosions to destroy seized ammunition.

Smoke rose from the area around the U.S. headquarters in Baghdad and there was intense helicopter activity overhead.

A spokesman for the U.S. Army's 1st Armored Division, responsible for the Iraqi capital, said he was aware of two scheduled explosions.

"There were two controlled explosions set for 1330 (5:30 a.m. EST) and 1400," the spokesman said. He said it was not uncommon to hear multiple blasts in one controlled explosion but had no further information.>

......our daily revisionist history installment do doubt!
