Rice swipes at IAEA, urges bold action on Iran
19 Sep 2007 03:31:29 GMT

By Sue Pleming

SHANNON, Sept 19 (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of
State Condoleezza Rice scolded the U.N.'s atomic
watchdog agency on Wednesday over its Iran strategy
and called for diplomacy with "teeth" to end Tehran's
nuclear plans.

While repeating the U.S. stand that "all options"
remained on the table -- a reference to military action
against Tehran -- Rice sought to ease fresh concerns
over talk of war.

"We believe the diplomatic track can work but it has to
work both with a set of incentives and a set of teeth,"
said Rice.

"The IAEA is not in the business of diplomacy. The IAEA
is a technical agency that has a board of governors of
which the United States is a member," Rice told
reporters traveling with her to Israel and the
Palestinian Territories.

2. Can anybody here picture Condoleezza Rice taking out the garbage?
Edited on Tue Sep-18-07 11:32 PM by Old Crusoe
Just an ordinary part of run-of-the-mill house cleaning. The trash truck comes by a time or two each week. We all take the trash out and set it on the curb.

Can anybody visualize Condi doing this?

It's really hard to bring it into focus at all. I have to force myself to make her arms and legs move.

In any scenario I envision, she's pointlessly overdressed for the task, as if she stepped out of an art deco mural in a Manhattan lobby.

4. Any Republican or Democrat that uses "all options are on the table" in the same sentence as "Iran"
is warmongering, and we have our share of those among us.

5. This is all very worrisome.
I saw some video on TV while at someones house today...looked like a lead in to some show - it was of what the commentator said was an Iranian woman getting stoned while crowds cheered.

Looks to me like we are being 'prepared' for the inevitable.

6. I sure miss having a "real Secretary of State", instead of this "token appointee".
This bitch is a total embarrassment to our country. She has been virtual invisible, except when she show up at shoe stores and photo opts. She has accomplished NOTHING, and has been an embarrassment to the minority population for which she was appointed. No skills, no effect, just a dark woman with education. An empty bag.

15. Condoliesa Rice is the poster girl for the reich.
She is a powerful icon. In substance her persona is completely impotent, delivering the PR message, designed by her corporatist puppet masters.

Having an afro-American Secretary of State for a fascist junta imposed by sequential coups is the ultimate hypocrisy. She is the perfect disguise. How does one address a walking, talking, living, breathing lie? She is an animated programed Potemkin village for a society and foreign policy based upon brutal force, inequity, racism, and class warfare.

"The bitch and is a total embarrassment to our country."

21. She did this to herself.
Condi traded all her ability, intelligence, education, and potential for a quick climb up the "corporate" ladder via the PNAC and her involvement with *. When she finally found herself in the important position she always coveted, the way she got there (and so quickly) ironically precluded her from actually doing the job. All she can do is what she is allowed to do; all she can say is what she is allowed to say (remember Karen Huge listening in on her?). She is nothing but a spokeswoman for their "corporate" agenda.

She comforts herself by immersing herself in the perks of the job, and she fools herself into believing that she is a functioning Sec of State by focusing on her image. Hence, the fashion show.

It is all, in its way, a minor sort of tragedy: A truly gifted human being who traded all that she had and all that she was or could be for a pearl of "small" price.

We shouldn't expect more really. Why is she still around? No one is hacking on her like Gonzo, Harriet, Rummy, etc.

I wonder if von Ribbentrop's old cell is available for Condi. (Both had the same job and share a similar guilt for which Ribbentrop was hung).

19. Last part of the article they left out.
"After making this statement Secretary Rice began to growl softly and bare her teeth as flecks of foamy saliva flew from her mouth. Her eyes rolled back up into her head and she lunged at the nearest reporter hissing and spitting in an attempt to get at his neck."

The American people need to be schooled on the IAEA to show how they were dismissed in Iraq and now Iran.

27. The heckuvajob Brownie of diplomacy. All her policies are failures
from being the National Security Adviser on 9-11 to letting Sharon tell her she was brilliant. An entire administration of cronism and corruption. She might recall that the IAEA was right about Iraq and she, Ms. Mushroom Clouds of 2002, was wrong.

28. It's a carbon copy of the buildup to the Iraq war
Slag the IAEA, talk about "all options on the table", then go. I suppose this time we won't be treated to a dog and pony show at the U.N. by a member of the Bush regime.
