"His retirement follows the closing in the spring of the Center for Reclaiming America, the ministry's political arm. For more than 10 years, the grass-roots group led the national campaign to bring religion into the public forum. Its annual political conference in Fort Lauderdale drew hundreds of Christian activists from around the country, as well as conservative politicians such as former Florida congresswoman Katherine Harris and former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee.
In recent years, the center mobilized to try to preserve the life of brain-damaged Terri Schiavo, gathered thousands of signatures for a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage, and lobbied the U.S. Supreme Court to uphold the ban on what is known as partial-birth abortion."

Jerry Falwell, has led to questions about the future leadership of a religious-right movement, in part weakened by Democratic victories in the 2006 election. And some Christian leaders are calling for a broader agenda that includes issues like global warming, AIDS and poverty."
