Falcons' Blank: 'Some sort of plea' coming for Vick
Source: Associated Press

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Falcons owner Arthur Blank accused Michael Vick of lying to him and the NFL after one of the NFL star's co-defendants said Friday that the quarterback took part in drowning and hanging dogs that didn't perform well.

"What's suggested in those statements of fact don't match up with what the league was told, even our organization and certainly not what was said to the commissioner," Blank told the Associated Press before Atlanta's preseason game against Buffalo.

Blank's response came after two co-defendants in the federal dogfighting conspiracy case pleaded guilty earlier Friday, with one saying Vick helped in killing dogs.

"It's sad that those allegations exist and now they are confirmed by others," Blank said. "It's sad that Michael has put himself into that kind of situation. It's his responsibility for putting himself into that situation."

1. Grand jury is set to meet tomorrow on potential new charges.
State is going forward with charges, as well.

Hear that Vick? That was the call for "roll credits" on your career and freedom.

Take the plea, little man. It's probably only a year. Go on, take it.

2. He'd be insane not to take whatever they throw at him.
He's still facing state charges on this.

4. I wonder if the Falcons knew all along about Vick's dogfighting?
One would have thought they investigated Vick pretty before they signed a over $100 million contract.

5. The offer he got had him in jail for a year, minimum.
The forthcoming potential charges are a much, much bigger deal.

He's screwed, but he's trying to save his ability to come back to the NFL. All about the money.

6. Taking a year and being under 30, free, with your health, and millions is not a bad deal.

Who cares about playing football in the NFL? This is your life here, moron. Plead out now.

Sticking it out to trial, losing on all charges including RICO violations, and getting twenty years would be poetic, but Vick isn't paying his lawyers to give him poetic advice. He's also presumably paying them for advice, so maybe he should listen.

7. Vick must feel like it's pouring on him - ticket for seat belt
When it rains it pours, as Michael Vick found out last week.

Already facing federal charges relating to an alleged dogfighting operation, the Falcons quarterback was cited for not wearing a seat belt during a traffic stop in Isle of Wight County, Va.

Vick's 2007 Acura sport utility vehicle was pulled over by a Virginia State Police Thursday afternoon on U.S. 17 near Smithfield, across the James River from Vick's hometown of Newport News.

State Police Sgt. D.S. Carr said the SUV, driven by Jamal Wilson of Newport News, was stopped because the tint on the windows was too dark.
