Six US soldiers killed in Iraq
Source: AFP

Six US soldiers were killed in a series of incidents around Iraq, the military announced Friday.

Two soldiers were killed when their patrol hit a roadside bomb in the Sunni western half of the capital on Thursday, the military said in a statement. An interpreter was also killed and another soldier was wounded in the blast.

Another roadside bomb exploded early Thursday next to an army vehicle, killing one soldier and wounding another in the predominantly Sunni central Iraqi province of Salaheddin, the military said.

Another US soldier was killed by small arms fire in Diyala province, home of a lethal insurgency claiming increasing numbers of American lives.

In the northern province of Nineveh, meanwhile, a roadside bomb exploded next to a US military vehicle killing another soldier.

The military also announced the death of a soldier on Tuesday in Baghdad province from a roadside bomb.

2. This is what happens when Congress votes for more bodybags from Iraq
The Democratic Congress did not have to hold a vote on more war funding. It could have just left the war starve on the vine. Instead, it chose to play the game according to the Dungeon Master Bush.

5. IWR is in the past. Congress just voted to continue the war!
And everyone knows that Bush is a pathological liar and has a personality disorder, yet they went ahead and fed his delusions and lies by voting to continue the war.

14. At least they're funded
Can you imagine how many soldiers would die if the Pentagon had to dip into the more than a billion dollars a day it already gets from you and me and the rest of the taxpayers? I mean, imagine if stateside officers couldn't make three-day ticket-punching flyovers to Afghanistan or Iraq to pick up a couple months' combat pay? How would the Pentagon afford extra pay AND body bags?

And the nerve of those six deceased: Following an artificial timetable and withdrawing early!

All six bodies should be transported through Congress during a session, and then a quick trip through the West Wing before the remains are moved to their final resting places.

We were at 4.02 per day during major combat operations. It dropped to 1.89 during the glorious victory peace that followed but has since risen steadily, now up to 3.35 per day.

(note, this does include casualties from the coallition of the duped but check the link, there aren't that many of them there.)
